Buddy of mine bought one expecting it to be the baddest mofo on the planet, knocking cars on their sides, shooting through schools, etc, etc. I have not seen him that disappointed since he paid a registration fee for a Corn Hole tournament and drove two hours to get to it, only to find out it was a stupid bean bag game. |

Not really.
It's ok as a SD piece when hiking if you're worred about snakes, but that's about all. It's marketed for personal defense or as a trail gun. As a trail gun it falls short because 45 long colt doesn't have enough penetration against larger, dangerous critters. 410 bore shot shells also aren't really sufficient for personal defense. Not enough penetration. ETA: it's useful if you want a gun that's for both snakes and SD against two legged vermin. Use birdshot on the trail for snakes and 45 long colt when it's on the nightstand. |

rifled barrel and shot = donut shot pattern down range.
.410 shells don't hold enough buck shot to be some super duper man stopper. If you are going to shoot someone justifiably and your choice of ammo is buckshot, make sure to use a shotgun, not a handgun. The pistol is really only useful for self defense with the .45colt ammo, and then, you are limiting yourself as there isn't a whole lot of .45colt self defense ammo out there. My recommendation: get a SW 625 or an SW 22-4. Both are chambered in .45acp, and both are quality handguns, the same cannot be said for the Taurus revolvers. Speed reloads with moon clips are fast and easy and there is a metric shit ton of HST, Got Dot, Ranger T's, etc of .45acp defensive ammo...you just gotta find it in stock

I saw a guy shooting one at the range. Using a target about 12" square shooting from about 15 feet away the pattern with birdshot was wide open and he was only putting two to three pellets on the paper per shot with buckshot. Workmanship looked good on the gun but I would say no to self defense and too heavy and bulky for a trail gun.

Quoted: What say arfcom? Practical? Tactical? Range Toy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO0YMPVqw-o&feature=player_embedded OP's recent posts pretty much show to be useless. The .410 is entirely too weak to be anything close to a reliable man-stopper, and if you're going to use it with .45LC, you might as well buy something else. The gun seems to rely mostly on marketing (Shotgun in a pistol package!!!) without people taking the time to consider how weak .410 is out of a short-barreled pistol. |

Arfcom says NO. gun does nothing well. I wonder if it might make a good woods gun/survival gun. Use the .410 on rabbits and birds for supper. Use the .45LC on bad guys, slightly larger game and maybe predators. It might be pretty good in that role. Shooting it out with bad guys in the 7-11? I'll take a Glock or a S&W. |
| The loggers/foresters and folsk who spend a lot of time in the woods around here seem to have the only legitimate need for them. They keep the 1st round birdshot for snakes, and the rest .45LC for larger vermin. For them, it makes sense. Most carried a .357 or .44 loaded in a similar fashion and they say thge .410 shotshells work much better on snakes and they don't lose anything with the .45LC. |
