Does anyone own any Taurus revolvers here?

Are they generally well-built, accurate, reliable?

Specifically the 12" HUnting model .44mag?

Thanks

I've owned a few, most recently the .22WMR "Tracker" model. Good gun; fairly accurate, reliable. The others were all .357's, and I liked 'em all. I'm just one of those guys that trades guns back and forth (EXCEPT for my AR; it isn't going ANYWHERE).

I have a model 85 five shot .38 thats suprisingly accurate. The trigger sucked but 12 bucks worth of Wolffe springs made it a dream to shoot. Got it for a hundred bucks too!

I have had a couple of Taurus .38s and right now have a Taurus 9mm revolver.  I really like them.  Well built and priced reasonably.  I have no experience with a 12" .44 though.

Heard a lot of different opinions on the Tarus line. I guess they have their QC and support issues ironed out. Hope others will add more to this post. FWIW, make mine a Ruger please. American made, pretty much no questions asked customer service, good prices, built like a tank.

In the 20+ years I've owned my Blackhawk, it has never failed, and I've used some pretty full house loads. The same can be said of my SP101, but I haven't had it as long.

I had a stainless 4" 22.  The only gripe I had, and it was a big one, was the Taurus safety mechanism on the hammer.  That thing REALLY sucked.  It would work it's way out after about 200rds.  I hated that safety thing so much that I got rid of the gun.  Hey Captin, I had a Millenium once, what an incredible POS.

Ditto. They're 5 times the gun, for about 1-1/2 times the price.

I've owned three different Taurus revolvers. The first was a Model 94 .22LR  6in barrel and it would not rotate the cylinder. Jammed all the time. Sold it...  Later , bought a Model 669 .357.  Had a defect inside the barrel (pitted).  Sent it back to the factory and they replaced the barrel.  Shot OK but after that, I was leary.. That was back in the early 90's.   Recently, (last year), bought another .357 and wasn't satisfied with it and traded it back to the same dealer for a used Smith and Wesson Model 19 Nickel .357.  MY GOD , What a quality firearm. I know now, the difference, between S&W and Taurus.
Will never own another Taurus firearm.  I will buy anything by Taurus. It has to be  S&W or Colt or Ruger .

Bought the wife an 85ch .38, it out shoots my 649 (older .38spl. only). The taurus trigger sucks as said prior. Worth the $218.00 new price ? Absolutely

I had a Taurus Model 66 .357 Mag in stainless 4".  I loved it.  My only regret was using for a trade (a Glock 30).  I actually got more for it than what I paid.  I still have two other Taurus pistols, and old 1960's era .38 Spl and a Model 92.  The .38 is my "garage gun"... stays in my tool box.
Edited to add that the .38 was made in 1962 and seems to be of pretty good quality.

I finally talked my dad into getting a gun for the house and I think I'm going to have him get a Taurus .357.

Model 85 and a model 96 .22 both damn good guns. With the warranty they will make it right if it breaks. Not the prettiest things in the safe but mine all go bang when you pull the trigger.

I did recently shoot a .17 Tracker with an 8 inch barrel ( I think) and the double action trigger pull was about 20lbs. I was dinging a steel plate at 50 yards like clock work but dang it was hard work DA. single action was sweet and easy to control but DA was a bitch.
