| My son recieved a letter from the Irs. He forgot to include interest income or dividends from a 1099 on a mutual fund. It's only about $200 so it's no big deal. His tax person said he needs to pay to file a supplemental return. I say all he needs to do is pay as per the IRS letter. The tax person wants to charge $300 to do supplementals. Is this necessary? |

No, I had a similar situation a couple of years ago.
In my case it helped that the tax due was less than the refund they were holding. A short time after they received my letter, with explanation and apology, the refund, (-the tax due), appeared in my checking account. |

Charged them $300 to do supplementals on a $200 penalty/ mistake |

Hahahaha. 300$???? Yes young couple just married that really can't afford it. If I can find out what she did is anyway illegal I will report the bitch. To who I'm not sure but it pisses me off that she just didn't tell them to pay the penalty and be done with it |
