I was just offered the opportunity to go to Microsoft's Tech Ed convention in Los Angeles  for free.  Anyone ever been?  What is this nonsense all about?  I see that a standard pass is over $2000, but expo floor admission is only $100.  What does the 2k get you??

Go for it.  Vacation on someone else's dime.

The $2000 gets you into the deep dive breakout sessions which vary from 100 to 400 level technical content.  You generally have product managers and developers from the product teams doing the presenting.  You will have the opportunity to see whats new ( such as Windows Server 2008 R2 ) .  It is a great way to get a head start on learning a new technology or or go deeper into technology you already know.  I stick to 300-400 level content.

Free software and booth babes.  What else would a techno geek want?  Oh yeah, and the free vacation part.
