Blackhawks are awesome. I have several in different lengths and calibers: 357, 44, and 45.
The Redhawks are ok and the ruger marlins are also awesome. |

I love my .45 Convertible. It’s pretty cool to go to the range and shoot some cheap 45 ACP through my cowboy revolver.

i wouldn't buy a new smith just because of that goddamned hole and i did buy a whole pile of rugers last year
kept a gp100 match champion out of about 6, sold the rest off here on the EE it's in the safe though, the revolver i ended up actually carrying was one of those $1100 colt blems, love that thing. hope to hell they come out with another huge batch of blems like that so i can buy some more |

Some guys like the simplicity and cadence of a single action. Some get bored with the slow drill to dump the empty brass and get it reloaded
I would never sell my convertible Blackhawk in 357/9mm . Truth be mostly because it was the first pistol I purchased back in the mid 1970s. I don't think I have shot it in 6 or 7 years,too busy shooting my mess of S&W double action revolvers. |

I have my eye on a short cylinder BFR in 500 JRH for just that reason. I can't understand why the few factory loads you can find for 480 now are 325 grain. If I wanted to shoot 325 grain bullets I'd just stick with 45 Colt or 44 Magnum. I want the heaviest bullet I can launch at 1000-1200 fps. |

Is a .30 Carbine shooting 110-grain ball ammo any different than a .357 shooting 110-grain handloads?
I mean if digging severe muzzle blast is your thing. Both guns look (and sound) the same from the adjacent firing point at the range. |

The biggest problem with buying a Ruger Blackhawk is you will want to buy a lever gun to go with it, then a couple holsters, a new set of grips and then it never ends. It's always something else you have to get with it.

A buttload of h110 is why I love my 45. Convertible. Hardly shoot acp because I have a ton of starline brass loaded with cast 350 gr.
Deer every year for the last six with it. Cary it all the time in the woods. |
