Term limits…

1) Probably the only way to wrest control of the government out of the hands of special interests & eliminate career politicians

OR

2) Restricts my right to choose representation.

OR

3)  Once the new guy gets elected, he’ll do things right

I’ll take door number 1,  Monty!

Discuss: surely some here favor term limitations... like one term!

If voters do their job there is no need for term limits.

When the Founding Fathers started this thing, they took time away from their businesses and farms, sacrificing a little of themselves to serve their country for a short time.  Contrast this with duche bags like Ted Kenedy, and Joe Biden.  They sacrifice a little bit of their country to serve themselves for their entire adult life.

Every office in the country should be limited to two terms, each term being no more than 4 years.

I'm all for term limits.

I think Reps should be limited at 8 years like the President and governors, and Senators should be limited to 12.

In theory, and great idea would make Congress conscript service. You get drafted to serve 2 years or so as a Senator/Rep. However in practice, I can see some major flaws with this idea. If executed properly; it would eliminate politicians, partisanship to an extent, and legislation might be better for the country rather than better for the Party.
