The blank post of course. To appease the ARF postmaster you need to have at least three non-whitespace characters (whitespace essentially meaning space and carriage return/line feed; I've never tried tab). The ASCII NULL character generally renders as a blank space; using Windows hold down the <alt> key and on the keypad press "255", then release <alt>. Most of the gibberish and my posts were the results of doing Alt-1, Alt-2, etc. They actually rendered differently in the editor than what was actually posted, it seems the ASCII -> HTML mangler isn't perfect. To the point: on Windows, hold down the <alt> key; press "255" on the keypad; release the <alt> key. Need to do that three times to appease the postmaster. Some other favorites: Alt-0162: ¢ (cent sign) Alt-0172: ° (degree sign) Alt-167: º (another degree sign, doesn't always render properly in HTML / rich text) Also in Windows you can run charmap to see a whole bunch of k-rad characters you can sprinkle in your posts and thread titles, which proved annoyingly popular a couple of months back. |
