I only have one. The only reason I have it is because the gun I really wanted in 9 was only in-stock in 40 at the time. I don't hate it.

Good and affordable ammo is readily available. People call it a "compromise" but it's an excellent "compromise" in my book. |

It's not that it's bad, it's just not that great. You either want lots of bullets, in which case get a 9mm. Or you want big bullets, in which case get a 45acp. The 40S&W is for people that just can't decide I guess, ha. On the plus side 40 is a slightly bigger round than 9mm and holds slightly more ammo than a 45acp and can be put in the smaller 9mm framed guns. On the negative side the guns might blow up, ha. It has more recoil than the larger 45acp round. It really doesn't do that much more damage when compared to a 9mm. So the negatives kind of outweigh the positives...

Like it better than Fuddy-Five, less than 9x19.
Little better vs barriers (and auto glass), little more expensive, little more recoil, little less ammo. The guns are a good deal nowadays though. |

MFW every mint and reasonably priced fish-gill RTF2 or P229 turns out to be a .40S&W instead of 9mm. |

Used to love it, but now it's meh. Still a great training round. Happy to shoot it, good to have the option, but don't see any real world advantage w/t it and 9 at this point.
