Was looking for a new sci-fi series to watch and came down on The Expanse. About halfway through season 2 so far and enjoying it. Season one started kind of like a film noir detective film with some 1980's fears. Just Earth and Mars rather than the US and USSR. The detective who can do nothing right with a very bad haircut. Oddly enough similar to what I rocked in the 80's!. Enjoying it so far. |

Great show; in my opinion peaked in S3. Budget went up and writing went downhill after Amazon picked it up. Still worth watching even if S5-6 are weaker. The showrunners did Click To View Spoiler dirty. He deserved a better Click To View Spoiler. |

Actual space combat in 3D vs starships as 18th century sailing ships broadsiding each other from 500 yards away. Once you see how good The Expanse does space combat, it's hard to watch other shows do it all wrong. |

| I never did finish it. One of these days I will go back and do so just so I have closure. The first 2-3 Seasons are amazing. It's been so long I can't remember exactly where it got weird. |

Naomi has got to be one of the worst characters of any movie. She's one of those you just kept hoping would die at some point. There are numerous Expanse threads. One of the best and most "realistic " sci-fi shows. The more you watch the more details you pick out. Like how they deppresurize the ship in battle and how they flip the ships mid voyage for deceleration. |

Lead character holden or whatever always looks like he's ready to break into tears. First half of first season all the characters kinda look the same and act the same and it's hard to tell who's who. Then it gets better. Then it gets dumb. A lot of it is really, really good. And some is bleh because it should be good. |

I thought it was one of the better newer SciFi series. Yes Naomi gets worse as a character as time goes along. Some other characters get better as the series goes on to balance that out though. The writing in the later two seasons isn't as good, but it never feels 'bad' to me. Holden in the later two seasons just kinda looks like he is in a constant state of early meth addiction. I could see it being due to the actor maybe just being ready to move on and having to finish the show first. I do like how some characters (Ashford and Drummer in particular; ill say no more there) really go from borderline unlikeable to "I want to see a show ABOUT them" as their storylines progress. |

No idea what season I'm in, but they are trapped in the ring and then pissed it off with the nuke. They did a LOT of gravity effects in the last few episodes that were things I had never even thought of. Made for some interesting things to think about. The Belter language is also very interesting and is quite similar in sound to the family of the Cajun dude my mom married when I was growing up. |

Did they film the whole 9 book series on Prime? Because there’s some edge of the seat writing in the later books. I bailed on it after season 2 ppand then it fell off my radar. In particular, I’d love to watch Amos and Peaches break out of the Pit and wend their way to Baltimore. And I’ve come to the conclusion that as Star Wars really being about C-3PO and R2, the Expanse is really about Amos. He’s an amazingly well written character, and the whole arc (post book 2) is really about him. |

She reminds me of some girls I know that are down for a good fight. Much more believable than so many of the tiny women many shows love using as a badass. |

She didn't add much for me, but her inclusion never bothered me. Avasarala was a highlight of the show. Her and Amos's interactions (as few as there were) were also quite humorous; as if they would have gotten along well but didn't quite know what to make of each other. |

In season 3 or 4 now. Bobbi irritated me at the start with her eagerness to get into or start a war. But that is par for the course for a Marine. She grew on me later as she was trying to figure out how to live like a Marine while being a civilian in a world where everything she fought for and believes is fading away. Naomi can hit the airlock at any time. She is far too wishy washy for my taste. Never sure where her loyalties lie. Amos is awesome. Dude says exactly what he is thinking and always in a matter of fact tone. He's always got your back too. He is also always looking for lost souls like himself to interact with to try and improve himself. He is that guy. Holden is OK. He gets annoying sometimes with the everything is my fault schtick. But he is like Amos in that he has your back as well. Crisjen is awesome. Though I am starting to not like her and her wanting to control every damn thing. She plays the part very well. I keep saying "just let them go to the other planets". Drummer is one of my favorites. Easy on the eyes (yes, I like them a touch trashy) and she really is trying to do the right thing not just for the Belters but for everyone. Ashford. Still not sure about him. He seems like an honorable guy but then always does something that seems janky. Miller was awesome as well. Too bad he had to die in the first season. I kinda dug the whole good cop that keeps failing noir thing he had going. Not to mention I had the same haircut in high school back in the 80's. My take on them. Not much of a read between the lines person. Right now, I am at the part where they just towed the ship into a higher orbit around Ilus and are trying to figure out how to get the reactors going and rescue the people below on the planet. Oh, yea and Miller just glitched out bad. |

Some interesting commentary on here about Bobbi that perhaps my conceptualized view of the roll needs a revisit. Intersting. Perhaps she is a more accurately cast real world human persona than I was giving credit. I thought she was a bit forced, but maybe not. Something to ponder. I guess Ill just have to rewatch the entire series with this in mind..

I was glad they did the last season to tie up certain loose ends, but didn't drag it out until it was virtually unwatchable like a lot of other shows do. Last seasons weren't as good as others, but id be very hard pressed to stay they weren't good. |

Frankie Adams just came across as someone playing a badass, not an actual badass. A better fit would have been some cauliflower-eared, broken-nosed female MMA fighter, but then you’re probably not getting the Samoan mix. |

He tries to protect them with the aid of a former Military SF/CIA assassin. At first, this is sort of a police procedural/action drama/conspiracy show. As it goes on, it becomes more science fiction as the AI program becomes fully sentient and engages another AI in an undercover war over which direction humanity will take. Travelers Hundreds of years from now, humanity is on the verge of extinction due to multiple calamities like an asteroid strike, geneticically altered crop failures and biological warfare viruses. In an attempt to prevent this, the consciousness of thousands of "Traveler" teams are sent back in time to occupy the bodies of people known to have died in the historical record. They attempt to prevent the disasters from occurring in various ways. But there are a multitude of problems, ranging from imprecise knowledge of the people who died(some travellers are sent into dying bodies, drug addicts, single moms of infants, retarded people) the fact that most of their missions are indistinguishable from terrorism, the emotional toll and temptations on the agents because they come from a very shitty future into this 21st century paradise etc. |

Yeah, I was thinking that myself. It seems every sci-fi series I’ve started and liked - Dark Matter, Outer Range, and the one you’re alluding to - have all been cancelled. It’s getting to the point that I don’t want to start anything new. |
