Hollywood just planting the seed that sometimes the rule of law needs to be disposed of for the good of society.

Back in an era when police could shoot a man in the back for fleeing the scene, beat a confession out of someone, and use illegally collected evidence in trial.
That is the good old days some in GD pine for. I can't wait to see this. |

Funny story: I'm out in my front yard watching my dog take piss. Woman driving by sees her and pulls in driveway. Says she has a friend who wrangles animals for the local movie studio. Says he's looking for a bloodhound for a movie currently shooting locally. Asks if we would be ok with them using our dog. Why not. Our dog ends up spending two nights at the shoot. We get paid $400. That's her in the trailer. Looking forward to seeing her in the film. View Quote |

Frank Hamer cut his teeth chasing bad guys on horse back in face to face shoot outs. He was one tough dude. If you need someone to hunt someone down and kill them, he was your man.

the one my father-in-law bought a gun from. A lacquer finished Colt .38. If anybody knows how to substantiate that I would appreciate it. |

The group that worked with Frank Hamer on the manhunt. https://i.ibb.co/YXXFp1Q/Texas-Ranger-Frank-Hamer-B-and-Clyde-1.jpg View Quote Frank Hamer and Maney Gault working for Texas Prison and Governor. West Dallas Deputies Bob Acorn and Ted Hinton......working for B/C nemesis Smoot Smith. Both had many run ins and shoot outs wit B/C. And the only ones that could identify B/C Henderson Jordan and Prentiss Oakley local Parrish law enforcement. Sheriff Jordan wanted the FBI to deal with B/C But Hoover wanted nothing to do with it. Funny thing is Oakley is the one credited with firing the first shot and actually killing Clyde with a borrowed Remington model 8 in 35 Rem. |

A friend of the family was born in the town Bonnie and Clyde were killed in. She told me after the ambush, the sheriff had them tow the car, bodies still inside, to the nearest school. Sheriff went inside and had the teachers send all the boys out and made them look in the car. Her uncle was one of those boys. She told me he said it was a horrible sight, but it made the point that crime didn’t pay. View Quote |

"Due process" is not the issue here. The issue is whether there was a 4th Amendment violation in the application of force used to reduce them to custody; that is, whether the seizure of these persons by the preemptive use of deadly force was unreasonable. Bonnie and Clyde were violent felons, known to be habitually armed, to use armed violence against police, and to have vowed not to be taken alive.
I'm betting that if they were killed under identical circumstances tomorrow, any civil suit against the police or government would be bounced out of court on summary judgment if not before. |

The gang had killed 9 police officers already. They were positively identified and were armed with 3 BARs and 100 loaded magazines. Real life is not a Hollywood film. You cannot arrest people who are going to shoot at you.

Another tidbit.
Frank Hammer Jr. Was a Texas Parks and wildlife officer Pilot in San Marcos Tx. Where I lived as a kid. Early 70`s. My Dad pointed him out to me one day. He was driving a marked 1973 Chevy station wagon, with mud tires on the back and a big whip antenna. |

This should be pretty good, Costner is good in these roles... I wish Yellowstone would hurry and start back up.

Thanks OP!
Finding stuff like this is why I love Arfcom. Hot damn. Just watched the trailer and added it to my list. Can’t wait! |

About time Bonnie & Clyde were portrayed as the criminals they were instead of some kind of heroes.
Looks good. I will watch. |

Looks pretty good. Looks like they actually had Hamer (Costner) firing a Model 8. I hope they got it right, and used a Model 8, not a Model 81. I've got two Model 81s, and they're fascinating guns. John Browning designed semiauto rifle that basically just uses springs.

I don’t have a problem with a romanticized telling of gangsters’ exploits. I want to see charismatic actors in the movies. Always had a thing for Faye Dunaway.
But I’m adult enough to separate facts from fiction. Those Depression era gangsters were mad dog killers, and deserved what they got. I hate people who want to turn Dillinger or the Barrow Gang into modern day Robin Hoods. |

Bonnie and Clyde got what they would have given had they had the chance to shoot first.

Always wanted a good Frank Hamer movie.
Didn't picture Kevin Costner playing him. |
