What did you end up doing? thank you no never had an Engine problem (knock on wood) all is well with the Car couple of weeks ago I had the 80k Mile Service done and did some more preventative Maintenance now I just need to get my new Radiators installed - one took a beating when I hit a Hare in 2019 just want to make sure the Engine gets proper cooling with the heat approaching

Here is a scan of an aged Instamatic 110 print of the first new Porsche I bought. 1974 914 2.0. I was 21, single, and had a good job. I think it was about $6400.00 but maybe was a couple hundred more - I forget.Attached File PS - also the only Porsche I ever owned. |

So, admittedly, I’m new to the 911. Every expectation had been exceeded. That said, after watching countless YouTube videos, how does the 911 continuously outperform cars on the track and drag strip with 100-200 more hp? There are many theories that Porsche under reports hp and torque. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Or, is it purely power to weight and hp to the ground? |

Personally for me it was the ease, and confidence of the car. Drove a 458 and a Cayman GTS around a track back to back and the Cayman was FAR easier to navigate around a corner. GT3 was the same way a year later it gives you the confidence to push it JUST a bit farther. |

I had mine out last week for the first time since they salted the roads (four times since, but the first is always special). My daily is a Mini Cooper JCW, which has significantly more power and torque on paper. Driving home from work, every time I put my foot down the back tires were stepping out. It's really muscle memory from daily in the JCW, but the SC just lays down so much more torque, the tires get spinning. . The only mods on the SC are exhaust, tuning and some judicious lightening.The 911 gives more feedback through the wheel than anything I've driven. There aren't many cars you can steer with the throttle on the street without getting completely anti-social, but that's my 911. My last sports car before the 911 was a pretty hot TVR. On paper, the TVR looked good. Pure 0-60, it took the 911. (It was my only street car that would lift the front tires off the pavement leaving a stop). Maybe a better driver would be faster on a twisty road or track in the TVR, but I wasn't. The TVR always needed mechanical (or electrical) attention - the 911 has been a tank, reliability wise. I decapitated a jack rabbit going about 115mph in my old BMW E30, completely destroyed the chin spoiler and badly dented the front valance. It looks like your 997 handled it pretty well. |

Same for me. Backdating the exhaust was by far the best bang for the buck upgrade I’ve done. It completely transformed the car. Here’s a video I made trying to convince a buddy to do the same thing.  Porsche 911 SC 3.0 with SSI heat exchangers and M&K sport 2 in 1 out muffler. |

Mainly traction, grip and braking (specifically excellent brake bias, suspension, geometry and weight distribution out of the box) - Porsche do not under report their HP and tqe figures, their engines are run out using very tight HP/tqe tolerances. This has been shown many times when cars have been put on sophisticated MAHA dynos that look at run down (sometimes called towing) losses. If you want an accurate perspective look at the German literature e.g. Sport Auto. Currently run a 991.2 GT3 RS in national level tarmac rallys and give away up to 300 HP/300nm torque. The most important parts of driving fast are training and seat time not HP and tqe. |

It's really muscle memory from daily in the JCW, but the SC just lays down so much more torque, the tires get spinning. . The only mods on the SC are exhaust, tuning and some judicious lightening.The 911 gives more feedback through the wheel than anything I've driven. There aren't many cars you can steer with the throttle on the street without getting completely anti-social, but that's my 911. My last sports car before the 911 was a pretty hot TVR. On paper, the TVR looked good. Pure 0-60, it took the 911. (It was my only street car that would lift the front tires off the pavement leaving a stop). Maybe a better driver would be faster on a twisty road or track in the TVR, but I wasn't. The TVR always needed mechanical (or electrical) attention - the 911 has been a tank, reliability wise. Same for me. Backdating the exhaust was by far the best bang for the buck upgrade I’ve done. It completely transformed the car.
