WT101 was going to be my recommendation also. It’s what I always pack if I need a plastic or small bottle.

HH's BiB has been a 7 year age stated bottle with a blue and white label for about 6 years now.

They discontinued their 6 year bourbon, waited a year, then bottled the same barrels at double the price.

I'm not real sure about those bottles you have.

ETA, the more I sip, the more I'm loving it. Now I'm a dyed in the wool JD SB dude, in my genes, but this is gonna be added to the very short list of non-JD SB expressions that I truly enjoy.

You guys and your ice.

It's 94° out and I'm drinking Kentucky Spirit neat.

I've been drinking Bourbon since long before it was cool. I drink it all sorts of ways depending on lots of factors.

If I was drinking Kentucky Spirit it would be neat regardless of the weather.

But when it is hot as eight shades of hell and I've been dripping sweat all day a nice cold glass of bourbon with some ice is a mighty fine drink.

And nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

If I want cold, and I know its solely my opinion, I go for beer.  If I want bourbon, it's going to be neat.

To each his own

But imo you are missing out

Serious question, missing out on what? Not trying to be argumentative but, it's a rookie move. It completely ruins the profile of good bourbon. Master distillers work hard to create bourbon profiles so that people can enjoy it on it's own merit.

Well said. Drink it how you like it, have a good time.

If you can do that, I'll drink with you.

One of my go to's.  The rye version is good too.

I've been curious if they're into making it with the juice from the new Lux Row distillery, or if it's still old Heaven Hill stock.

That's probably right, I haven't noticed a big change in the taste, and the label still reads "...made for", not made at.

I have been able to at least sample the last (5) batches of Stagg. Just can't find what all the fuss is over it.
Now EH Taylor Barrel Proof on the otherhand....

They been showing up at safeway, costco, tw, walmart, and AJ's

But dont bother going right now.. its all gone in 15 minutes to an hour or two of it hitting the shelf.

Your best bet is to join local fb bourbon groups and watch for folks posting when they score, then you gotta be able to up and go immediately.

but reports of folks finding one and two bottles of normally hard to find stuff is becoming more and more common.

This is such an underrated bourbon. Not sure there’s a better easy to find $50 bottle out there.

The newer batches aren't as good as the older ones.

The medicinal cherry notes on the finish just aren't there anymore.

They may be using the better barrels for the EHTBP.

It's the exact same mash, age, etc.

Every time I see something that I might be interested in that is over $50 I always stop and think, could it possibly be better than Rare Breed. I usually have three or four bottles stashed away.

RR 10 is another favorite. You can definitely tell they are nearly 27 points different proof.

Honestly, Wild Turkey kills it at every price point under $50. I always have 101, RR10 and Rare Breed on hand.

I picked up another bottle of Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select Today.  God I love this stuff.

Last one I got was like 6 hours away.  This one was local.

It was easier on the wallet when I couldn't obtain it easily.

My brother is mad at me(good naturedly).

We've been working together on hard to get whiskeys. He's in Ill-Annoy, I'm in Iowa.

I scored a bottle of Blanton's today at normal pricing, a letter he doesn't have.

Instead of having him pay me back I decided to drink it. Figured he got the last 3 I bought, it's my turn.

If you are in VA, and you happen to find one of the "Capitals 2023" Personal Collection bottles, you may want to grab one. It's honest to God one of the better if not the best barrel I've ever tasted in the JD SB line.

If it's close to the bottle(same product line, their store pick) I got at Starks in Prairie du Chien, it'll be very good. Definitely a JD product but smokier than usual.

Love it. Longbranch got me through the china flu stretch when our local liquor stores couldn't get regular stock. For some reason it was always in stock. I haven't had a bottle in months but, I should grab one this week when I head to NV for my monthly bootleg run.

I used to say "It's not worth the extra money for Rare Breed over Longbranch" - but lately, I've changed my tune.  It is one of my other favorites though.
