WT101 is my "all around" go to,   but Rare Breed is simply fantastic!

That said,  try Blue Note... especially cask strength!

Got Fiddler the other day. It's a good pour...much better than I thought it would be.

I can see that, and love both... and if I had to choose one it would be tough. In arfcom tradition... I will continue to get both

Was pestering my local store manager last week and he brought out a bottle and asked me if it's allocated.
Kentucky Spirit single barrel Camp Nelson Rickhouse F.
(A younger brother to the Single Rickhouse and Russell's 13).
That's the warehouse most all the Wild Turkey special editions come from.

I got (3) of them. $69.99/ea.
It's  fantastic.

My latest KS is a CN-F.

Wasn't impressed.

Had a much harsher profile than previous bottles.

Picked this up last weekend. Not bad, but probably wouldn't buy again.

It does have some pronounced black pepper on the finish, but that's a nice offset to the stronger dusty tobacco note on the mid-pallette I thought.

At MSRP drop, will see what's left when I get to the front.  There are 216 staggs but I'm about 270 in line.

Wow. I haven't seen a bottle of Stagg in our very efficient, always stocked, well priced and organized State operated store in many years.

Very curious what your tasting notes will be on all of these. The recent bottles I got of Kentucky Spirit are all I've ever had out of Camp Nelson (that I know of)

Local raffle.today. Manager kept it on the down low and didn't advertise it.
(50) bottles and about (20) people showed up so everyone got at least (2) bottles.
Top picks were a Wliliam L. Weller leftover from last year , an Old Fitzgerald 10-year, a couple of Michters special editions, some Stagg (jr).... I was called real late and still got (2) bottles of Jack Daniel's 10-year batch 3.

Likely, those prices are before the taxes kick in.

"There are two types of spirits (liquor) taxes: a spirits sales tax and a spirits liter tax.

Spirits sales tax is based on the selling price of spirits in the original package.

The rate paid by the general public is 20.5%.
The rate paid by on-premises retailers such as restaurants and bars on purchases from distributors and distillers is 13.7%.
Spirits liter tax is based on the volume of spirits being sold in the original package.

The rate paid by the general public is $3.7708 per liter.
The rate paid by on-premises retailers such as restaurants and bars on the purchases from distributors and distillers is $2.4408 per liter."

I like it boozy and brazen.  115 proof with some rye bite - maybe not the best flavored I have ever had but still buy it and enjoy it.

They have three tiers of tables, A B and C.. A being the good stuff, B being the easier to get good stuff.

Table A was tapped about 10 people in front of me... but table B has some of my staple bourbons I like to have a few of, so just restocked on those.

IIRC it was 45.99 for the EHT SmB and 39.99 for the ER.  Hand grenade was 9.99.

My new whiskey cabinets officially came on line last week.  I don’t have nearly as much whiskey as I thought I did.  I’ll work on that.

Duplicates are in the lower cabinets.

My son says, “got you this, super rare stuff. Just pay me back when you can.” I’m thinking $100 bucks maybe, ya right, try $299 plus tax. Expensive lesson for the boy, when he don’t get to try any!

Thank you for posting a reminder of why I stopped hunting bourbon and learned to look at the available ones more objectively.
It is amazing what a legitimate blind tasting will uncover if you take the time to do one.      Try 5 unknown pours at a time over the course of several sittings with your drinking buddies.  Keep the results hidden while adding the top pick as one of the next group of 5.
If you drink over ice then pour over ice just as you would normally enjoy.     Try to use a mix that represents availability.
Examples 1st tasteing Russel Reserve, Blantons, Four Roses, Stagg Jr, Gifted Horse.    2nd Old Forster 1920, Rabbit Hole, Old Fitzgerald, Basil Haden, Pappy
3 Jim Beam, Jeffersons Ocean, Woodford Reserve, Col Taylor, Elmer T Lee

These are from crate and barrel. I added the LED strip lighting. Lower cabinets have motion activated white light. Each cabinet has its own controller, but all three can be controlled through one remote. I can post more details if needed.

I love that stuff.  Couple bottles to be had locally right now - but I have a spare and don't want to drop the coin.

I will probably regret it later.
