Was pestering my local store manager last week and he brought out a bottle and asked me if it's allocated.
Kentucky Spirit single barrel Camp Nelson Rickhouse F. (A younger brother to the Single Rickhouse and Russell's 13). That's the warehouse most all the Wild Turkey special editions come from. I got (3) of them. $69.99/ea. It's fantastic. |

My latest KS is a CN-F.
Wasn't impressed. Had a much harsher profile than previous bottles. |

Local raffle.today. Manager kept it on the down low and didn't advertise it.
(50) bottles and about (20) people showed up so everyone got at least (2) bottles. Top picks were a Wliliam L. Weller leftover from last year , an Old Fitzgerald 10-year, a couple of Michters special editions, some Stagg (jr).... I was called real late and still got (2) bottles of Jack Daniel's 10-year batch 3. |

Likely, those prices are before the taxes kick in. "There are two types of spirits (liquor) taxes: a spirits sales tax and a spirits liter tax. Spirits sales tax is based on the selling price of spirits in the original package. The rate paid by the general public is 20.5%. The rate paid by on-premises retailers such as restaurants and bars on purchases from distributors and distillers is 13.7%. Spirits liter tax is based on the volume of spirits being sold in the original package. The rate paid by the general public is $3.7708 per liter. The rate paid by on-premises retailers such as restaurants and bars on the purchases from distributors and distillers is $2.4408 per liter." |

It is amazing what a legitimate blind tasting will uncover if you take the time to do one. Try 5 unknown pours at a time over the course of several sittings with your drinking buddies. Keep the results hidden while adding the top pick as one of the next group of 5. If you drink over ice then pour over ice just as you would normally enjoy. Try to use a mix that represents availability. Examples 1st tasteing Russel Reserve, Blantons, Four Roses, Stagg Jr, Gifted Horse. 2nd Old Forster 1920, Rabbit Hole, Old Fitzgerald, Basil Haden, Pappy 3 Jim Beam, Jeffersons Ocean, Woodford Reserve, Col Taylor, Elmer T Lee |
