Eastbound towards DC the other night.  .76 at 330.  As fast as I've seen the old girl go over the ground.

The ride home was painful.

The 80 won't ever set any speed records, that's for sure.  But I'm going to miss it when it's gone.  Three more years, maybe four, tops.  Then I'll probably have to fly that french POS :(

This is an oldie, but my favorite friendly dig against the bus.  Applies just as well to most any "modern" airplane.

The funny part is that I've heard plenty of people say that the Bus hand flies great in lower control laws.

613 Knots is about 710 MPH.  We were doing Mach .76, I don't remember exactly, but that was probably between 250 and 260 Knots indicated, and between 430-460 Knots true.  Generally, we don't ever fly below 250 Kts indicated at altitude, but our max altitude is 37,000 and we have to be really, really light to get up there.

The view is a lot better down low and slow.  My Pazmany will do 120 MPH, downhill, with a tailwind.  And it doesn't like to get much above 6500'.

Who were you up against this time?

Anyone I know?

I got stuck flying this POS the last two days.  They really need to retire it, it has nothing but problems.  Electrical failures, flight control problems, even caught on fire several times.  The weather sucked as well, right at, or below minimums the whole time, even got in some really bad wind shear.  But at least I won't have to fly her again for nine months..

best of luck to you. I would have told you to come to Ft Campbell... the POW range here is fanastic. Used to be the sniper range or something like that, steel targets out to about 750 meters, and bays where you can run and gun however you want. Solid place to shoot.

Stay safe.

Not during the flight this morning but just before leaving.

Had to wait for an RV7 to land before takeoff.
