was and is because of Republican apathy at the polls. All the idiot legislation we deal with now, whether you're talking illegals, schools, guns, civil rights, activist judges, or anything else, came about because of Democrat control of Congress. Republicans become too involved with the purity of candidates, and end up either not voting, or voting for wingnuts that don’t have a chance in hell. They have always sacrificed the acceptable or the good in the quest for ideological perfection. Democrats aren’t like that. They just want to win. The Democrats controlled both houses of Congress from 1933–1947 14 years New Deal/WWII era 1955–1981. 26 year stretch 1987–1995. 8 years . . . End of Reagan/Bush I and early Clinton And those are just the long stretches . . . many shorter ones We would need at least a decade, with a veto-proof conservative Congress, to even try and rectify the plagues that the left has saddled us with |

libertarian mumbo jumbo. there will be government. you can choose to take the power and use it to your own ends, or you can scream how government is evil and shouldn't exist while someone else takes control and builds their own world. |

If they had a supermajority and Trump they would still do nothing conservative. They have no honor, no integrity, just scumbag thieves like the democrats willing to sell their grandkids into slavery for a campaign donation. No matter how much you hate either party it isn’t nearly enough. |

The apathy problem isn't nearly as bad at the polls as it is all the days between the elections. Add to that, even those clearly not apathetic (87% of arfcom?) aren't involved in all the processes as WE (me included) should be between the elections. How many people regularly communicate their stance on issues with their reps, both R & D? I know I could do much better, I get on a roll a times, but after a while of no positive results, assume I'm alone and quit for some time. |
