Honestly, the left seems to have some aversion to anyone who can produce things of use without big industry involved. Farmers, knitters, or anything else made by hand. These are people who know how to do things and is a sign of independence. It does not require the collective and is therefore bad because someone has specialized knowledge not shared by others. They are therefore more useful and harder to control.

I've pretty much decided I don't care anymore about anyone's opinion of my actions. I'll listen to you but if I can't find the reason or direct association to my life then GTFO. That whole analysis takes me about 2 seconds to review. If I have to do the whole "seven degrees of Kevin Bacon" thing then - no.
Look at what they are accusing this woman of getting. Just because she is white and wanting to go to a PREVIOUSLY white colony state to experience their CURRENT culture and explore their world she is demonstrating her white privilege. I've been in a couple of sewing stores here and it's almost always a mixed crowd. Yes, I know how to sew and have made Halloween costumes (made decent money on a few of them) as well as fixing/making/modifying outdoor clothing and gear. No, I do not know how to knit or crochet so I guess I'm safe.

My wife knits. It's fucking awesome. She just made me a nice, warm watch cap for my bald head. She does scarves for my daughters, sweaters, etc. and really enjoys it.
