I loathe Rob "Meathead" Reiner, but i have to say his Princess Bride movie is probably the best, all around movie ever made for a general audience. It's got something for everybody, 8-80.

He somehow managed to make the film and keep politics out of it.

Ah, but which one?

I'm kinda partial to To Have and Have Not followed by The Big Sleep and Key Largo. Dark Passage is definitely last.

No big mystery there. Look at the year it was made. No one gave two shits about that stuff or wanted to hear about it back then.

There is no best movie ever made because the human mind is so complex.  There could be best movies in specific categories, maybe.  But so many great movies have been made in so many genres.

Best non fiction may be Schindler's List
Best comedy is Dumb and Dumber
Best action film may be Payback
Best book based fiction is probably Dune or Lord of the Rings
Best original fiction is The Matrix
Sci-fi is interstellar or Aliens

My dad took me to see it in the early eighties, must have been doing the rounds at theaters again.  Next day I had to swim a mile and half across our lake for swim school.  that was fun, I was maybe 12 or so, thanks dad.  Not afraid of the water though, even done shark dives in bahamas.

We could be friends…

I always go through the 5 dollar bins at Wal Mart and buy every copy I find to give to people.

It has almost everything a great movie has to have.

It can be a bit campy, it can be silly, but there is a ton of truth in it, and an amazing message.

I’m such a fan the last time I was in Austin I drug a coworker with me to filming locations.  We visited the Cele General store, saw the house from the road, drove over the bridge that the kid jumped out of the car on, and saw the feed mill where hub had his heart attack.

Coworker, in typical WI fashion, pissed off the bridge into the stream below.  It’s a compulsion…

Agreed on it being Val’s best. As far as best….eh like someone said it’s all subjective.  It is my favorite movie though.

These threads are always kinda cool. Lots of great movies posted here.

If anyone hasn’t seen the movie I posted. I (obviously) highly recommend it. You can watch it on Amazon and also TUBI if if I’m not mistaken.

Seeing all of the movies listed in here and forgetting about some of them, is why it's so difficult to pick just one best movie.
Sometimes a certain movie requires me to be in a certain mood.
Other times there are movies that I can watch while in any mood.
This thread is a good list of movies to watch.
