I love all my tools equally.

I'd hate to know how much I've spent over the years, but I'd guess it's well over 100k.

Dude, your wife is gonna kill you if you phrase it like that...the correct phrasing is "can you imagine how much money I've saved by doing all that work myself?  Good thing I have all these tools to do the job right!"

You are not wrong OP. I just used mine to clean out the cracks in my driveway with needle nose pliers. Then I filled in the cracks with crack sealer and applied Latex-it Duracoat sealant. Before that I used my shop Vac to clean our car interiors. Before that I used the shop vac to clean the interior after sanding the joint compound I applied on the walls. I also use it to clean the pellet stove and use one of those hepa filters that work awesome.

Love my m18 shop vac, just wish it had the option to be plugged in like my m18 fan.

I'm curious to see how the new full size m18 shop vacs work. The small fuel version works fantastic

Chinese bought them out last year and started production again. Lowes, meijer and some other places sell them.

This.   I was amazed it took this long for someone to list a knife as the most basic and useful tool.

I gotta agree with OP.  I’ve stuck my shop vac in places no shop vac should go.  I’ve mumbled “sorry little buddy” under my breath numerous times.

A Shopvac is essential, but not under-appreciated or under rated.    It’s like saying Cheddar is the most underrated Cheese.

Maybe Headlamp.

We got one as a wedding gift. It was about 12 gallons, I think, but the coolest feature was that it had a built in water pump. So in wet mode, you could hook a garden hose to it and it would pump water. The pole barn on my property was built (by the people who owned the house before me) in a horrible location and frequently floods in the winter after the ground is frozen. I kept from having an indoor skating rink in my shop several times with that thing. Then it the motor burned up, and I couldn’t find one that had the same pump feature to replace it.

The butter knife. I seriously use them outside their intended purpose all the time because they are handy and just the right length, width, bluntness and stiffness for things.

That’s funny, because I just used mine to get all the oak pellets out so I could use Alder to smoke salmon this weekend.

For me it’s the basic pocket knife. Seriously the tool I use every day, and half the time I use it for non cutting jobs like prying, turning screws, etc…

Under-appreciated / underrated, probably a bench vise.

My most used tool in the past 20 years is any form of battery powered screw gun.

I am partial to the Milwaukee M12

But I've got one of these and use it often

I bought a Craftsman that looks like the model in the opening post from my BIL at the time, used for $20, about 30 years ago.

I'd be happy to replace it with a new one but its still going strong.

But as far as my favorite tool?  I call her Excalibur.  When nothing else will loosen up stubborn parts, Excalibur has never failed.  Similar to the pic below.  Same handle but black unplated steel and a tad longer.  She feels like a sword.  Thus her name.
