I had a friend who knew tricks with TMNT, so I never had trouble there.

Battle Toads and Ninja Gaiden were probably the hardest.

There was a game called Guardian Legend and I think mine was bugged, because I could never open the sector 4 (?) door.

Another pain in the ass was X-Men on the Sega Genesis.  “Reset the system!”  Didn’t work on the later models with a different reset button...
Also didn’t work with the original Sega if you used a Game Genie.

This game was insane as a kid.  Couldn't figure out WTF the game wanted me to do.  Had to read guides back when AOL was a thing to get through it.

Input lag is a real thing. It screws up your timing on everything. On systems like Genesis and SNES, timing is a huge part of gameplay. I'd be willing to bet many would have more success if they used an FPGA based system or original hardware instead of emulation.

At least that's what I found.

Earlier this year I refurbished an old NES and bought several games on ebay/Amazon. cleaned up and refurbished those also. Just haven't had much time to play, but at least they are all working now!

Final boss in RYGAR was seriously easy.  I used to be able to beat that game from start to finish in about 45 minutes.

You did need to take time to power level up on the way there, but if you did, he would die in a few diskarmor shots to the face.

Falling to your death trying to clamp onto a rope with the pulley ruined a few runs.

I am Gen X but, what's funny about it?

It's fun to remember but I don't think that is what you are saying.

If you remember those games as a Gen-Xer, it's because your Millennial children played them in their youth.
