The Bain Files: Inside Mitt Romney’s Tax-Dodging Cayman Schemes
John Cook

Mitt Romney's $250 million fortune is largely a black hole: Aside from the meager and vague disclosures he has filed under federal and Massachusetts laws, and the two years of partial tax returns (one filed and another provisional) he has released, there is almost no data on precisely what his vast holdings consist of, or what vehicles he has used to escape taxes on his income. Gawker has obtained a massive cache of confidential financial documents that shed a great deal of light on those finances, and on the tax-dodging tricks available to the hyper-rich that he has used to keep his effective tax rate at roughly 13% over the last decade.

I think we should be paying no taxes, but this won't be good for Romney, it will keep Romney off the important things

Ooooooh - look at the mean rich man.  He is rich, and you should be jealous and angry at him, because he's better off than you!!

Don't look at the shitty economy.

I only hear this issue championed by the extreme left...oh, and supporters of a particular unnamed losing candidate.

If your only motivation in this election is to find ego validation, you might be way fucked up.

Just sayin'.

Who gives a crap what his effective tax rate is??  Did he break any laws?  That is the question that should be asked.  I would high five him if he had a 5% tax rate as long as it's legal.

I'm more concerned about what 0bama is doing with my money than what Romney has done with his own money.

Talk about a bullshit argument - Mitt is a tax dodger because he uses accounting techniques approved by the IRS to reduce his tax burden.  The Obama Admin has something like 23 different upper-level admin people who have simply not paid their taxes or used ILLEGAL means to pay less than they owed and they can sit there and point the finger at Romney with a straight face.

Shit if I were a reporter, I might even consider it newsworthy or relevant to explore how well the candidate pointing fingers at Romney lives up to his own standards.  Of course, to be a reporter, I would pretty much have to know fuck-all about nothing and be proud of the fact.
