Seriously guys... EFF the Flu!
I've been out of the military for 3 years now. I never used to get sick. I'd say it was because I was generally surrounded by healthy people, but that doesn't hold up because I work at the same place, just as a contractor now. My kid started preschool this year, so I blame the little plague rat. Kid and wife got Flu vaccines. I did not, because last time I got one my face swelled up like a watermelon and I had a nurse hovering over me with an epipen ready to stab my face off. So now I have the flu, like officially, Type A. Oh. my. fuck! This sucks. I have been completely grounded for 3 days. Incapable of doing anything besides sleeping, vomiting, shitting myself, coughing up blood, and whining like a little girl. I've never been this sick. Is this what "sick" is like? This is like God reminding man that he is mortal. This is miserable. Doc gave me tamiflu and benzonatate, plus directions to take tylenol to control fever. How long does this pox last? I really hate missing work. Can't I just pound a few redbulls and call it "good"? That should work, right? |
If you went to the CDC's high risk viral lab in Atlanta, smashed all the vials on the floor, then rolled around in the mess, you'd get fewer diseases than you'll get from having your kid in preschool.
We used to never get sick, but then my son started preschool. Now my house should have a quarantine warning sign permanently posted on the front door - we're sick once a month during the school year. I just spent last weekend sitting on the toilet while barfing into a bucket (in spite of getting the flu shot last fall). |

Whatever it is isn't covered by the flu shot, either, because all four of us had flu shots and 3 out of 4 of us were sick for days. |
| I'm 58 years old, have two kids 18 and 20. I have never had a flu shot and the last time I had the flu was before my kids were born. I fly between NY and FL every 2 weeks too. I get a mild cold every year , soar throat, stuffy nose and ends up in my chest but no big deal. The Fever, chills, aches and pains of the flu really suck as I remember but like I said , it was over twenty years ago. |
