Why is there such a difference in thinking between the average American Jews and the Israeli Jews?  The Israeli Jews recognize evil and the need for vigilance backed by action.  The majority of American Jews seem to identify with the left and support disarming the people. How can anyone - in many cases, whose own relatives lived through the holocaust- even think that way?

It blows my mind ... it really does.
It is one thing to say "Never again" It is another to mean it.

like any other population they are isolated from the violence and the current generations only know stories, they have never encountered the terror up close and personal.

Because Israeli Jews see the consequence of their positions every day.

My boss, a Jew whose family defected from the USSR, agrees with your sentiment. He shakes his head in disbelief at the support American Jews give to the DNC.

Just because they all belong to the same religion and supposedly share the same heritage, doesn't mean they think the same.  The Israelis have fought, constantly, for their land and are probably a little tougher than those in America living the good life.

You can count this Jew out of the American Jew equation.

I think this is it.  There's wishful thinking, and then there's reality . . .  Israeli Jews face the reality of Arab/terrorist behavior every day.  American Jews get pablum from the idiot box.

Well Israel is a fairly socialist government and has very strong gun control. I don't see that much difference personally.

Different upbringing...different day to day life experience....unfortunately, the same perspective on an omniscient/centralized/"patriarchal" type of government.

I might add, it's the same fucking problem here in terms of the sheeps view of government.

To be fair, American Jews are generally left-leaning, and Israelis (beyond security) are equally left. While they may take action at the state level, private citizens have very limited RKBA.

Depends on where you grew up. The thing with gun grabbers is they grow up being sheltered and this is their perception of reality. They believe that the world is a safe and decent place because they have not been abroad.

Same reason our younger generations are liberal pussies.  they never had to deal with shit like our grandparents did during the great depression and WWII.  They are isolated from the conflict, not threatened and as such, just dont give a fuck.

I think American Jews (not all) consider themselves as liberals first and Jews second.

Not the same thing.   Not only are there the history books, there's the whole holocaust thing.  Shit, I'm NOT ALLOWED to forget about it, how could a Jew.  The US of A, next to the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korea and Vietnam memorials, HAVE a Holocaust Memorial.  Nay, US of A citizens, regardless of religion, shant ever forget the Jew's plight.
Regarding the comparison to the US:  Shit, we barely have ANYBODY alive in this country anymore who experienced and remembers the Great Depression.    Actually lived it, not legendary campfire discussions.  To have a functional understanding, from an experiential standpoint, you'd have to be in your late 80s or 90s.  Tough times in this country is 10% unemployment, Money Saving Brand Tortillas Chips, clothes from Walmart, generic soda products, and sharing a bedroom in a heated/AC abode.  We, quite nearly, have an entire population of folks who's definition of tough ain't all that tough.

I grew up in a predominatly Jewish Neighborhood in Saint Louis, by growing up I mean my years of knowing where my has was,,age 10 to 16,
I know several Jewish kids, the Majority, were left leaning, feel good, tree hugger wanna be hippies,,the few, very few, maybe 3 of 15 I knew, occasionally hung out with,
were extremly conservative,,these 3 were childran of 2 couples my parents knew
couple one were CAmp survivors, Both on second families, having lost first childran and spouses to the ovens
couple two were just your basic conservative types, no govt, no taxes, work for what you earn etc,,

course as a child in the 60's we really didnt have such titles, conservative/liberal etc, , all I remember were 3 main types of Government with teeth
Americans, Godless Russian Commies and screaming Hords of Red Chinese
we were to hate the two latter.

That's interesting ... and bothersome.

I'm curious what Israel would be like if they were not under constant attack or threats of any kind.

Most American Jews are leftists instead of Jewish.  The more orthodox the more conservative they are.  Israelis are not any different.  There are millions of Israeli libtards that want to give MORE land to the Arabs.

I don't know if your "American Jews vs. Israeli Jews" assessment is correct, but I suppose it would change one's attitude if their neighborhoods were bombed, buses were attacked by suicide bombers and neighboring gov'ts were vowing for your destruction.

True. Frankly, I don't think the Israelis are nearly as gung-ho, kick-ass, as some folks around here seem to think they are.

In the US, the prevalent opinion is the Nazis are to blame for all past Jewish harms/killings and since the Nazis are all gone (supposedly), there is no more danger.  Since the Muslim Middle East isn't in the US, the Jewish people here do not think along the same lines as those in the Mid East.

I was raised in MA, yet I saw the mistakes of my home state and moved away forever.  I am virulently pro-gun and despise those who wish to rape my freedom.
