I am looking at the Cabela's add and they have some Judges on sale. What do you all thing of that as a backup gun. I carry a Glock 17, I figured the Judge would fit comfortable in my pocket.

If you really, really need to shoot snakes, get a S&W revolver and buy some CCI shotshells. For the life of me, I cannot understand why these Acme Roadrunner Hunting revolvers are so popular, but then, I must be really unhip, because I don't understand why Obama is so popular, either. |

What says the hive! The_D You must wear MC Hammer pants if you can fit a judge in the pocket. If that is the case, then your choice in fashion and in a BUG suck. If you want a good backup to your G17, buy a G26. |

I've never had to fire more than two rounds at a snake, and I've never used snakeshot.  Guess it's just a matter of hitting what you're aiming at.

I ordered 350 rounds of 21/2" .410 buckshot (3-pellet) from Ammunition to Go last April...still have most of it. I just checked there, though - they do not list it anymore.
I wanted a Judge in the worst way for a while, but can't bring myself to buy one, based on the marginal quality reports on them and Taurus in general. Oh well. I got the .410 I always wanted (a Winchester 9410 (9+1!)), can't complain. |

I want a backup that will lay whomever down for the count. I won't carry a 1911, but I really want a 45 the I can run Hornady JHP as a back-up. My pants pocket accomadate a wallet, knife, cellphone, two sometime three spare magazines, Fenix Flashlight, and a Glock 17. I conceal this all very well and want something small to carry as a backup. What are you all recommending.

A G26 would work well as a backup because it can use the same ammo and magazines that the G17 uses. That can come in real handy. Alternately if the G26 is too big for you as a BUG (and it is for some folks) then a S&W J frame loaded with 135 grain +P .38 spl. ammo is a superb BUG. The addition of CT laser grips to the J frame makes it a much more capable weapon. |
