I met him/her in about 1995 after going to the show at Club One with a bunch of my friends and their wives. My crew chief's mom was a big fan of the book and he wanted to get an autographed picture for her so we hung around after the show and talked to her for a few minutes.

She was very nice and offered me an autographed picture as well. I had never read the book and had no real idea who she was and didn't really care but took it anyway and I think I still have it somewhere.

She was personable and the show was a surprisingly good time.

Died of pneumonia.  Isn't that one of the end results of AIDS?

Yes, often pneumocystis carinii but people do die of pneumonia for other reasons as well. The fact she was in the hospital for a month prior though points in that direction to me.

I met Mary Martin who was the first singer in the South Pacific musical song, Wash that man right out of my hair.  I had to ask a coworker what she was famous for.
