I don't think that this is the deciding election. We have a freely chosen criminal and a freely chosen rootless buffoon running for president. Worse thinks have happened. Teapot Dome. Whiskey Ring. Garden variety government-contract-letting. Except for the early years when we were governed by exceptional men like Washington, Jefferson, Crockett, and their like, the Constitution has been little more than an obstacle to the self-serving activity that has characterized government since its ancient inception. It has been used as a sword and a shield to protect the interests of the political class and the government minions. Government as usual for all mankind.

I think the next election - 2020 - will see a complete disregard of the Constitution. We will elect a socialist who will do the 'right thing' because all else has failed and things are unfair, or we will elect a strong man who will disregard the constitution because it limits his ability to impose order.

I don't think we will fight. Football will be on. Things will muddle along. We will silently watch as the Republic circles the drain and we go the way of all history and public virtue evaporates.

We will marvel at our fathers freedom, but we will pity their lack of wi-fi. We will not see the tragedy of it all.

The celebrity cult that started with the current con-artist in the White House was turned-up a few notches in this election.

It will be turned-up a few more in the next one.

Yes, it will get worse before it improves again.
