Ever wanted a Colt Python but can't afford it in these lean economic times?
Look for the Colt Official Police Revolver. Also keep your eyes open for the Colt Army Special and Colt Commando revolvers as they are the military versions of this revolver. You can get one for about $300. The Official Police and the Python are both built on the .41 frame and have the same lockwork. A bit of fine tuning and polishing up will make the Official Police every bit as smooth as a Python. Yes, the Official Police revolver is chambered in .38 Special rather than .357 Magnum. But the Official Police revolver is built on the .41 frame and it will take the heavy .38 Special Keith loads which will bring it up to magnum power. |

Mk III Colt Troopers are also built on the same .41 frame, and are of a more recent vintage. Look for these variation names too: Colt Lawman, Metropolitan Police, and Border Patrol. |

Get a Dan Wesson .357. Looks more like a Python, accurate as hell, still less than $500. Double action isn't as good, but single action they are as good or better. Yes, I own both. I got two Official Police revolvers and an Army Special, I did not pay more than $300 for any of 'em. |
