Damn, I love this movie. First saw it in the theater with my late father. He was an aviation nut as well. Easily one of my favorite movies.

I just got a blu-ray player that upcomverts dvd's and installed speakers for a back channel on my home theater system and just popped this in after we watched a few blu-ray movies. It makes this movie even more enjoyable.

I love the scene on the carrier with the Skyhawks landing, I love that plane.

So, what is your favorite movie that deals with history?

One of my all-time favorites, too.

The first few scenes at Pancho Barnes' Happy Bottom Riding Club are great - The best pilots in the world, hanging out with the the local riff-raff. "So, what are you two PUDKNOCKERS going to have?"

BTW, Pancho Barnes was a legend in her own right - Sure hope someone makes a feature-length movie about her life someday.

The Right Stuff rules. I remember watching it with my dad when I was younger

My favorite history related movie is The Great Escape. It's just so amazing how all those POWs managed to dig three tunnels, innovate tools, forge papers, and manufacture clothing all while under the ever-watching eye of the Nazis. Incredible.

Great Movie.  The book is terrific as well, first time I read it, I read it in one long sitting.

Yep, it's the only Tom Wolfe novel I've ever been able to finish...

The Right Stuff primarily because of the two overlapping story lines between the old barnstormer pilots like Chuck Yeager and the newer breed of college educated pilot/astronauts. One of the best movies ever, IMO.

"And no one knew there name."

Edited for spelling.

I loved this movie.

Favorite history-related movie would have to be "The Great Escape", or "Tora!  Tora!  Tora!" depending on the day

Did you ever notice the old man serving drinks behind the bar? Chuck Yeager himself!

My fave is Gettysburg. The movie was very well scored (musical score).

Great movie.

I like how they showed that Yeager did get to space via F104.

"Y'all want a drink of whiskey?"

"I'll have a coke please. In a clean glass"

"Coke?"

Excellent movie, makes me feel proud of our fliers everytime I see it.  Anyone else wonder what was the point of that doctor sticking that big needle into Scott Glenn's hand ( Alan Shephard -Navy flier ) during the astronaut selection phase ?
