ARFcom...

I need you to list all the reasons why this weapon is not a good option for....well, anything really.

...or what IS it good for?
5/5/2010 4:57:19 PM EDT
[#1]
I worked with a guy, who wanted one for the sole purpose of having "the power of a 12gauge, in handgun form"

5/5/2010 4:58:44 PM EDT
[#2]
Too small for a boat anchor.
Not absorbent enough for toilet paper.
Too expensive for a paper weight.
Not flat enough for a skipping rock.
Not chewy enough for a teething ring for babies.
Too short of a barrel for a tomato stake.

I say we finally export guns to messico like the news claims we have been.  Lets give them all the Taurus revolvers we can fine and let them duke it out with hardware equal to their culture.

i could see it being a reasonable choice if youre going out in thed middle of nowhere and your only concern is snakes. even then, its not the best choice, just a decent one.

This, probably be a fun toy, the Contenders are. Judge is to expensive for me though.
5/5/2010 5:00:39 PM EDT
[#8]
I thought they were making a souped up Ford taurus and calling it the Judge....
5/5/2010 5:01:41 PM EDT
[#9]
The Judge is just a Poor imitation anyway
5/5/2010 5:02:15 PM EDT
[#10]
None of the effectiveness of a shotgun with all of it's concealability.

If you think your assailant will be intimidated by your penis size but find yourself with a stuck zipper, this gun will be very effective.

For those not blessed with basic handgun weaponcraft skills and need their target perforated by projectiles designed for birds and rabbits, this is the ticket.
5/5/2010 5:05:07 PM EDT
[#11]
I want the new one in .454 because it looks awesome.

No seriously.
5/5/2010 5:06:31 PM EDT
[#12]
My neighbor at the end of the street bought one. He's real proud of it.
5/5/2010 5:06:56 PM EDT
[#13]
My dad wants one...
5/5/2010 5:07:26 PM EDT
[#14]
father in law bought one for the wife.  told her it would be a good home defense gun for her to use when i'm gone.    he handed her box of birdshot with it.    I thought it might have merits until I bought some buckshot and tried patterning it.  No way.  at 25' is has like an 8' spread shooting buckshot out of that short rifled barrel.  It's now loaded with 45LC.

It would be a good snake gun when loaded with birdshot but that's about it.
5/5/2010 5:08:31 PM EDT
[#15]
thought about one for hunting...lots of rattlesnakes where I hunt, but I opted for a lightweight short barreled 38 with 3 rounds of shot and 2 hollow points (for 2 legged intruders).
5/5/2010 5:08:34 PM EDT
[#16]
It's good for a walk in the woods.

It's not good for self defense or concealed carry.

1: It's ugly!
2: It's too big to carry.
3: I doubt that .410 is any better than a .357 Magnum pistol of the same size.
4: It's a Taurus........

If magpul made one, would it sell?

Probably,
5/5/2010 5:17:55 PM EDT
[#20]
limited capacity

limited ammo selection for HD use

secondary caliber .410 is worthless or next to it for serious HD use

HORRIBLE ergonomics

muzzle flash from shooting .410 is quite stupendous

not really an accurate platform

Most folks will not train with it due to it's shitty ergos etc

It is a gimmick gun that many of the gunshills/gunwriters have latched onto because of it's novelty

some folks say it would make a great snake gun

I don't carry a dedicated snake gun but if I needed a dedicated snake gun there are better options available for that also

Taurus and the gun rag community have  overstated the supposed "stopping power" of this turd to the point that I believe their stupidity has endangered the gullible

only a handful went to people who were not mouth breathers thinking they were getting a hand held claymore

If ya want one as a toy/novelty more power to ya

if you think it is gonna vaporize badguys because of what it does to a shoot N see target refer to the comment above

the ad campaign for um has been genius but IMO bordering on some sort of fraud/malpractice/negligence

That is no shit.

I spent 20 minutes at Cabela's gun counter last Saturday.  I was able to pick out the guy who would ask to see the Judge as he walked down the counter.  Sure as shit, the first and only gun he looked at was the Judge.  I walked away laughing after listening to thirty seconds of gun counter guy's bullshit about how great .410 would be for self-defense.

Precisely.

I don't understand why someone would choose a gun that is only "good for snakes" when there are plenty of guns that are "good for snakes" AND wolves, coyotes, bears, mountain lions, etc. If you're going to carry something in the woods, carry something that will work for more of the threats you might encounter than just snakes.

I have one. No useful purpose unless taking it to the range and letting your buddies shoot it for fun and letting them know there are better weapon for their purpose. I have had fun with mine, but has no real world use––––-but is better than a stick.––IS

What would Jeff Cooper say about it? I already know, "a fix for a non-existent problem"...

Wouldn't they be at least marginally useful with .45 LC loaded in them?
5/5/2010 5:51:39 PM EDT
[#43]
There was a good-ole boy at the pit with one who was proud as a peacock about his new Judge.
Said he bought it to put on the night-stand.
I whipped out my Super-Shorty and said that this is what I keep on my night-stand.

He paused for a moment and asked where he could trade in his Judge for one of those.

don't flush that toilet of disgust yet, they're making a RIFLE based on one of those,,,,,,see above post

only use I can think of is for a very bad .410 trap shooter

5/5/2010 6:06:08 PM EDT

didnt some guy on here use a Taurus Judge to shoot a Brown bear that attacked him?

seems good for that.

Yes, they would, but so would a regular Smith and Wesson or other .45 colt revolver.  My big issue with the Judge is Taurus's dishonest advertising  - they have people really thinking its some wonder gun because it fires shotgun ammo.
5/5/2010 6:17:31 PM EDT

The president of a gun club by me  has one.  He can score a 13 in a round of skeet with it.

Yes, I actually saw him do it too.  One of the best shotgun shooters I have ever seen.

That was my thought.  You would also lose about 2 inches of useless cylinder length.

A buddy of mine has one that we shoot regulation skeet with.  It is a fun toy in that respect.
