Crazy machine!

Love rock buggies!

[#2]
What was the whirring sound before he cranked the starter?
1/2/2013 3:31:52 PM EDT
[#3]
Not a bug out machine. No cargo capacity.

It depends how fast you have to bug out..

That thing is fucking WILD.

Man, I could tear up some lawns with that bad boy.

Very cool!  Some of the onlookers seemed dangerously close though.

I'm guessing a secondary electric fan to help keep engine cool.
1/2/2013 3:39:57 PM EDT
[#9]
That's an impressive machine.
I would seriously want some eye/face/head protection riding in that thing. One rock coming off a front tire doesn't have much in between the wheel and your face!
1/2/2013 3:39:59 PM EDT
[#10]
guy needs to learn a little finesse. all wheel speed is not the answer for every situation. Not to mention the damae he i doing to the trail, surrounding areas, spectators, near by vehicles, etc

Electric cooling fan over heat exchanger.  They don't move fast enough, or have traditional radiator mounting, for a "normal" radiator.

+1

Sounds like a cooling fan, the "bug" was probably driven there for the video (recently turned off) and still hot - tripping the fan when he primed the ignition.

Bad Ass! No fenders and no eye protection seems a little crazy though. Those front tires are throwing a lot of debris.

I was thinking MOST of the "trails" he was running looked like they could be done in a relatively stock Jeep, albeit slower.

Looks pretty fun though.

Neat.   I wonder how you get enough surface contact on an engine with a heat exchanger to move the heat away fast enough and over a large enough area?  Is it like multiple contact points and heat pipes like on a CPU heatsink?

It'd be a great scout vehicle, although way to loud, probably need some armor as well.

He has always built some badass buggies. I'm surprised he hasn't cracked his head open on the cage yet. I'd for damn sure be wearing a heltmet with eye protection.

Also, I'm waiting for him to kill an onlooker as fast as he goes with the little control he manages to keep.

I'm going to go pretty far out on a limb here and guess that a good 50% of people that would purchase/build and operate such a machine are full blown assholes full of "just don't give a fuck"

Not that there's anything wrong with that

Second thought maybe I don't need that kind of money

You can thank these douche nozzles for 99% of the trail closures due to incident or damage in the US. Between the Jeepers and dumbasses in MOAB and and Uwharrie, much of the trail system the Expedition crowds love is now closed.

I have no interest in rock crawling or buggies, but these ass hats are ruining Overlanding for many of us here in the states, especially the East Coast.

While cool and all, I think this is a case of too much power. Its just brute HP trying to overcome obstacles.

No real skill in that.

So the OP's plan is to bugout to the top of a small hill in as loud a manner as possible in a pretty much useless vehicle?

Got it.

Ive had a thing for fullsize ford vans converted to 4x4.  more specifically an 08' E350 Diesel Extended Body sitting on 35's or 37's.  Id build out the inside for camping.  Something like a sportmobile or a quigley camper.

Oh, how dare they.  They got your trails closed.  Yours.

The Feds closed them.  Period.

Want open trails?  I suggest you petition the Feds to sell the land to private developers with a monetary interest in having people use the land.

But you won't.

Not really.  Most of those trails are at gray rock off road park in birmingham.  Most of those hills you can note even walk up they are so steep. Video can never show the angles of those cliffs.  I think that is Tim Cameron. No such thing as to much horsepower.

I'm sure the guy was having a lot of fun and that is one powerful machine, but I'm not impressed.  I'd much rather take a more practical vehicle and ease up them hills than have so much power that I can't get traction.

Don't blame it on the rock bouncing crew.  This is done at private parks mostly in Tennessee and Alabama.  Private parks designed to host events for this kind of wheeling.

As it is with most things, its the small percentage of douches that ruin it for the majority of us.  There are plenty of people who wheel responsibly.
