| Movie is on IFC. Seems like a pretty badass comic book series. I've never read comic books. Worth looking in to? |

Movie is on IFC. Seems like a pretty badass comic book series. I've never read comic books. Worth looking in to? Buy it as one graphic novel. Short answer yes. Beware they changed one thing for the better in the movie. Other than that you have read it by watching the movie. It's almost exactly page for page the same. For me the best adaptation of any written work bar none. The casting is excellent apart from one character. There is also one other short story in the GN which is worth a look on its own. |

The comic should probably be included amongst other great pieces of American literature. It's really a masterpiece. It's a story full of symbolism about cold war era American exceptionalism and paranoia, involving quintessentially American characters (costumed heroes), told on a quintessentially American medium (comics), and written by a Brit .

I had never read the Watchmen comic, so I went into expecting a "standard" comics based movie, and hated it. I watched it again a year or two later and considered it on its on merits, it's a very good film. Watchmen and the most recent Dredd film are the best comic inspired movies in recent history, IMO. |

Movie evil plot was way better than graphic novel evil plot. I remember my "what the fuck is this shit?" reaction to the graphic novel. Suspension of disbelief is a delicate thing.
I appreciate that the movie stayed in the alternate 1985 verse and didn't try to shift the story forward 24 years, like some studio idjits almost certainly wanted to do. |

Two people I saw it with who were religious got all butt hurt when they used the song Hallelujah during the love scene, and declared the movie bad because they instantly considered it their duty as bible thumpers to give a thumbs down after that scene. They must not really know the song.

Rorschach should have his own series on Netflix. Would be awesome. He did it's except its called Dexter. A psychopath that murdered out of the shear joy of killing only to hide this behind a deluded veil such as doing the greater good for society. I murder to remove the sickness in society even though I'm just as sick as the people I kill. Rorschach and Dexter know this and continue to kill, wich sperates them from the run of the mill savages that are ignorant of their true motivations "Who watches the Watchmen" indeed |

Rorschach's Journal.
October 12th, 1985: Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no |

One of the rare occasions that the movie is better than the book. Also, http://cdn.rsvlts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Silk-Spectre-II-watchmen-22552461-2000-1339.jpg Seriously, why does the book vs movie comment get thrown around every time a movie is mentioned. As I have stated several times before, books and movies are two completely separate art forms so comparing the two is illogical. |
