I am in need of a new boiler this spring (combustion chamber collapsing in on itself) so I dont want to pay for a service call

My downstairs zone doesnt seem to be responding to the thermostat control

Is there an easy way to tell whether it is 1) thermostat, 2) wiring to zone valve or 3) zone valve?

What kind of t-stat and what kind of zone valve?

Do you have a multi meter you know how to use?
