My Uncle invented a log splitter in the 70's...
An old 4x4 pick up, no box. A ram made from a Grader hydraulic cylinder. The ram was mounted where the box was located. A hydraulic pump was mounted off the rear transfer case driveshaft. You drove it to the worksite in 4x4. You put it in 2wd for splitting. You put the truck in 3nd gear, and held the accelerator @ 40 m.p.h. with a lawn mower throttle. You would place a valve in forward to split, backward to return. Hillbilly tech |
