I know it has been discussed here before...in a thread about Sandy maybe. anyway I ordered two of these lights and I must say they are out of this world for the price. $5.20 shipped from Amazon.

3 settings. Bright, dim, pulse or strobe setting. Very bright, well made, run on one AA battery. I'm buying more! Great for Christmas.

not worth the long wait time for almost a month and if it breaks good luck getting it replaced.

They are $5. If it lasts 6 months it is still a good deal.

The whole unit is approx.3.5 inches long. Ordered Nov. 1 Received Nov. 15.

3.5 inches long doesn't seem nearly long enough to be useful.

ETA:  Oh, FLASHlights.  NVM, carry on.

I've got 5 on the way.  I'm giving them to family members for Christmas.
Cheap but decent and can use AA = a winner.

I agree about the wait time––Took about a month for my last dealextreme order to get to TX.

I ordered two similar models (that took rechargeable 18650's) and two mounting "brackets" for my mountain bike. Now I've got a 170 lumen, 2-hour runtime bike light for $9 and it works great.

I consider these inexpensive Chinese lights almost as throwaways and always have my Streamlights and Surefires ready for front-line duty.

I have a couple of them and have been very happy.  Not something I would trust my life with, but for a $5 flashlight they are great.

How bright are they using just one AA?  I'd be happy with 50 lm or so.

If you're knocked out with these weenie lights, you haven't seen any good flashlights. Yes, I got one just for grins, but it's a weak tit compared to even the puniest of my real LED lights.

Get a $12 501B with an XM-L emitter and prepare to be blinded. If you're willing to learn about rechargeable lithium ion batteries, you can get an 18650 and a charger cheap on dealextreme and have some real light.

I got one of thse that was labled 5.11 when I picked up two pair of work pant for free. From what I can tell it looks well made and the beam is focued.

Price was right.

Yup, lots to learn about rechargeable lithiums. A LOT of chargers have shitty circuitry, and are a fire hazard.

Now that DX has a US warehouse, shipping should be faster.

Charger I bought from DX didn't work either.

While I do understand expecting a product to work out of the box, did you attempt repairing any? I've had one flicker bad, but all it required was a little sandpaper on the clicky-switch retaining ring, and it's still working 3 yrs later. The rest are usually replaced by DX, even though waiting is a hassle.

Thanks.  Bought a few just to have around the house/vehicles.

These are really neat for the price

When you pull the focus head all the way out you have about a 10' perfectly LED-shaped square at 50m

Hell no.  If GD worked in a pie factory at least half would bitch, "waaahhhh, there's too much whipped cream in this pie factory, waaaahhhhh"

FWIW, $5 for a light to keep in the glovebox of the car isn't bad.  I may pick up a few the next time I order from Amazon.

I have a few of these Energizer lights for edc, car, etc. They work pretty good for a $15 light. Do you think I can run one 14500 battery without blowing it up?
