August in southeast Texas is pretty much the worst time for this sort of thing.

yup Texas is hot.

Edit: I've been drinking and I am actually thinking if we all lived in a community I could make alot of money off of you guys because everyday I see my AC is out thread. It's what I do professionally but the bad news is there are so many hacks out there with better advertisement. That and I just got tired of sucking up to the customers selling them shit all the time. It's the reason I went into industrial. No selling stuff. Just staying at one place fixing shit.

That's actually what I noticed before the heat.  That it was muggy in here.  Trust me, where we live, going from your front door to your car in the driveway makes you need another shower.

Go buy a $99 window unit from Wal-Mart.
At least the bedroom will be cool.

You check your breaker? Wife fried the vacuum yesterday and it was on the same breaker as the indoor blower. Thought it was out, but it jsut tripped the breaker when the motor on the vacuum shorted.

Probably the run capacitor.  We've replaced two this year.  Open up the unit and check if the top of the cap is bulged out.  Or, it could be something else.

Dude - it's fo time. Someone cue the "pop the top off of the PMAG" gif...

I am refusing to leave the house anymore. If my AC went out, this would be me:

If it gets too bad we'll head down to his dad's house.  So far it's hot but every room has a ceiling fan.  He's been tinkering on it for the last hour so maybe he can get something going!

Yeah, he did that first.  It's the fan having a hard time keeping up.  He can reset it and it'll work for a few minutes and then give out.  I think he might be able to get a replacement fan tonight or in the morning.  There's some confusion over whether our friend who has the extra fan has the capacitors for it.  I dunno.  Man talk I don't understand.

Right now he's got the fan out spraying some super lube or something on it.

We didn't have air when I was a kid, in the house or the car.  But I don't want to even think about going back to the "good ole days" of sticky clammy sheets and sweaty 24/7. Screw.That.

We are moving to KY in a few weeks, we currently live in Western NY.
So our AC goes out last week, clogged condensation drain which causes water to run all over our crawl space on the day of our home inspection by our "buyer"....I think I stressed a few years outta my life that day. Luckily I was able to fix the problem and the buyer still is going for the house. It was hot for about 4 days while we were trying to get things fixed and up and running again.

TX heat > Western NY heat. LOL. Not even close, but up here, we wear shorts when the weather tops 50 in mid-March cause its Spring time baby!! LOL!!

Yeah, I don't know how they did it.  I guess it's all what you're used to but that's sure something I don't want to have to *get used to!*

Down here we wear shorts in December.    I got married November 23rd and wore shorts to the wedding site.

Ours went out last week. It was absolute fuggin misery here just southwest of Houston.

We had every fan we could find going just to make it through the night..

Ended up being one of the high voltage lines into the circuit in the attic unit.

Sorry you're going having to deal with this. It sucks for the family and the wallet.

Good luck.

My AC was out a few weeks ago.  Got up to the mid 90s....INSIDE the house.

That was a loooooong weekend.

Arfcom helped me fix it bright and early Monday morning.  I love this place.

Reminds me of boot at FT Sill, middle of August in the old WW2 barracks, trying to sleep in a pool of sweat.  You guys can keep it.

Ugh......

He just left to get a replacement fan from a friend so I'm crossing my fingers that it'll at least get us through tonight and tomorrow!

Or north, east Texas, I worked in Houston for six months a couple of years back during the summer, bout fucking died from the humidity.

The only part of Texas that has lower humidity is west Texas.

Yes!  Back in June I was in the Fredricksburg, Gruene area––––-I guess that'd be considered central Texas––––-and it was nearly as bad.  The saving grace was there seemed to be more of a breeze most days compared to here.

Someone gave an apt description of the humidity the other day:  it's like putting wet towels in the dryer, opening the door mid-cycle and climbing in with them.

I was born in Amarillo and don't remember ever having central A/C in any of our or other famile houses. All we had was what we called swamp coolers.

They cool pretty well with the low humidity. Then we moved to the Dallas area when I was 11. Talk about shock.

Been here 41 years now and still hate it.
