My long time childhood babysitters husband died about 10 years ago from cancer caused by AO exposure when he was in the brown water Navy.
He was a great guy. He'd beat cancer probably 3 times but it finally got him 40 years after he got home. |

In an office setting, 15-25 yards max for shots. 10.5" 5.56 without ear pro, in a room? You'll be deaf. Suppressed PCC, you can at least hear what's going on. My 11.5 is as short as I want a 5.56 (I'm sure 10.5 is fine, but not really enough shorter for me to care), get down into 6.5-9in and I'll look at .300bbq. I do want another 3-4.5in 9mm some day, but as a pistol those kinda suck (no vfg) and the people's republic of Illinois somehow legalized SBRs, but with the addendum that they have to be over 26" OAL.  So ~8.5in is right at as short as you can make a legal AR SBR here (maybe a touch shorter if you use the law folder, but my 11.5in without one will be right at 29.75in on its form 1). Illinois sounds like a dumb state. It's all personal preference really. I should probably have a truck rifle, but I just keep an extra mag for the G19 in there. Hopefully any situation I'm in can be solved with a G19  Do you not full kit to and from everywhere you go? Depends on the day |
