Yes, this is another AR vs. AK thread. Maybe I'm just venting but here it goes...
I already have a frankenrifle AR. It shoots good but after building this one a few years ago, I've identified what I would change and have priced out my "perfect" AR at $1400, $900 without optics. The biggest advantage is that since I reload and have plenty of mags, accessories are basically non-existent. Then there is the AK. I don't have one so there is instant appeal. Plus, the rifle, ammo and mags to where I want to start at is $900. I end up with a rifle "system" that is $500 less and it gives me a new caliber. So, here is where I keep bouncing back and forth on. I could slowly order parts for my perfect AR and build it minus the optics for the same price as the AK setup -or- get something entirely new. Neither of these are for hunting and either one would be a paper puncher/HD rifle. Yesterday I was dead set on the AK. Today, its the AR. Who knows tomorrow.
