Laphroaig 10 you suck!

I know this is one of Arfcoms darling single malts, but I find it to be rather undrinkable. If I wanted to drink a bottle of liquid smoke I wouldn't have paid single malt prices to do it. Thankfully I got this at the LLS's whiskey sale so I'm not out too much. You guys really steered me wrong on this one. Anyone up for swapping me something on the Sherry side? Perhaps a Glenmorangie 12 Lasanta or Glenfiddich 15?

Scotch sucks, period.

Either it tastes like dirt, or smoke.

OP shoulda bought the Quarter Cask Laphroaig. It is worlds better.

I'll trade you a bottle of premixed mimosas for it.  That might be more your speed.

The first time I drank it I hated it.

Then I read about why it tastes like that. What it is made of and the process by which it is made.
Then I tried it again, expecting it to taste like it does, but understanding why and identifying the different flavors. I enjoyed it.

I have a Laphroig 18 open right now in my liquor cabinet. I also have a Glenmorangie, Oban, and a Bowmore. Each are different for different reasons, and each are drank depending on my mood.   Sometimes I want a smokey dram with a particular meal, or a mood.

If you don't like Laphroaig, there is something missing in your makeup. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

PS. You evidently missed the overtones of iodine, road tar, and sea salt.

I find it to taste of iodine and turpentine. Not my type of Scotch.

I enjoy the Glenmorangie  10 or 12 year old.  It has a subtle orange citrus note to it that I really enjoy.
