Today at work I was walking the yard and found a baby tiger salamander barley moving along some snow and ice. I picked him up and brought him inside and as he warmed up he started to really crawl around. I was afraid to let him go in the semi-frozen mud as I thought he would freeze to death. I brought him home and have him in the sink with a little water in it. What do these like to eat? Anything I shold know to help care for the litte guy? Another question, a coworker told me these are endangered and if you are caught with one it is a big fine? Is this true? Thanks for any info! |
| I found one and kept it as a pet for about 5 years. I named mine Slimy. Slimy lived in a glass terrerium with about 4 inches of dirt in it for him to burrow. Always kept a water dish inside. Used to feed him grub worms to eat. However, it was always fun to throw him a live cricket or grasshopper. I could hand feed him his meals. Slimy was a fun pet. However, I forgot to water him for a couple of days and he dried up and died. Oh well. |
Could have kept him and just renamed him "crusty". |
That is a nice and sad story! I'll shoot anything from Elk, deer, pigs, praire dogs ect but I have a soft spot for frogs, lizards, snakes, turtles ect......have to save those little guys! |
