I'm currently re re-doing my kitchen and have done a granite tile countertop. I now need to do a backsplash, but have a couple questions.

1. For the backslpash, do I need to put down a cement style backer board, or can I just quickset the tiles to the drywall?

2. For the gap between the counter and the backsplash, what is the best way to seal it. Grout or caulk?

Thanks for the help in advance!!

Helped my dad do this same thing last summer.  We just set the tiles to the drywall.  I think the cement board is used mainly in bathrooms / showerstall application with tiles, due to the constant humidity (maybe some experts may correct me on this).  Didn't use any type of caulk.

When you say "gap between the counter and backsplash", I'm assuming you are talking between the countertop and the bottom edges of the backspash tiles, right?

Good luck!
