| WHY in the Hell do people call an insurance company to get a rate, then they are quoted $400 less and still not want to purchase a policy (with the same or better coverages). This makes absolutly no sense to me. I am an insurance agent I am the MOST VILE DECEITFULL ASSHOLE you will ever meet, but guess who is gonna be there to CYA when you need it. So for future reference to all Arfcom members don't call an insurance company to just get a quote, if it saves you money damnit you should (in most circumstances) be all over it. |
maybe they want to shop around to other companies and see of someone can do EVEN BETTER than your $400 decrease |
|
Hey, Nick - did I ever tell you about the time I quoted a fellow ARFCOM member who bitched and moaned about how much he HATED his insurance company? I asked him, "If I could get you with a better company for less money, will you switch?" and he said, "YES!" So I spent 2 fucking hours on the phone, did all this work, saved him and his wife $1400 fucking dollars a year on the insurance. And you know what happened? His WIFE balked. They HATED their company, I was SAVING them $1400, and the WIFE refused to switch because she didn't trust us. Sigh . . . . Greywolf's rule number one - People are stupid. Learn it, live it, love it. |
just for the record.... that wasn't me
|
| Yeah such is life. Anymore you almost have to be a whore to get people to see hey you are saving money it is good stuff. It is just a kick in the nads. OHHHH and the other thiing that just really really eats me up inside is people who are judged by liberals to be "disabled", because of their lack of a work ethic. Look at how much crap we catch for being insurance guys. At least we don't sit at home all day everyday and collect a welfare check. |
LOL - that is true |
I agree - we actually quote 6-8 different companies for our callers. But what gets me is we do the "soft sell" whereas other places like GEICO will be higher, but use seedy sales tactics and high pressure to get people to buy at the higher prices by lying about things. THAT is just wrong. |
Doesn't matter. As a customer, I'm not going to settle for a salesman telling me "this is the best price in the market" when I don't know that the guy isn't lying. I want to call several places and verify this for myself. |
| I just can't fathom this because the last time someone told me I can save you $400 I pulled out a mastercard right there. I can understand that, but are you really using that line as an excuse not to commit to something, If you can see my perspective imagine hearing that 60 times a day. Alot of people say that as a cop out. I can understand in certain circumstances that can be valid and most likely Redbeard if I were talking to you on the phone then I most likely would respect hearing that out of you, but what I don't like is when someone says just save me money, and after you do it is ohhh well let me think about it. |
Nothing wrong with that. |
That's true, too - we ask people "Hey, we do the shopping for you, if we can save you X $$ today, will you switch? They say "Yes" then when we do the renege on their promise. Very frustrating. |
now that I can see as a gripe if you tell someone "if I can shop the companies and find you a rate that's $400 less than what you pay now, will you switch?" and they say "For sure" but then later back out on the deal then potential customer is a dick |
<----- Purchased insurance from Greywolf. I have no problem with the sales agnets, but man I really do think that adjusters are scum. The roommate of a girl I am dating is an adjuster, and while I like her as a person, I always see an insurance adjuster when I am talking to her.

That is as long as you can afford enough coverage and the saint of an agent makes sure you have enough and the correct coverage. I recall two cases in Kali last month where peoples houses weren't covered when a mudslide hit them. They would have been covered if the rain that caused the mudslide damaged their home, but not the mud caused by the rain. I guess they neglected to read the 10,693 pages of fine print and escape clauses. |
When given the choice, insist on an "ALL RISK" policy, not a "NAMED PERILS" policy. And READ what the All Risk policy does NOT cover - it isn't a lot. All Risk means that unless it specifically says "WE DO NOT COVER THIS" then you are covered. If space aliens land on your roof and your ALL RISK policy doesn't say it isn't covered, then you are. A Named Perils policy only states what IS covered. If it doesn't say "We cover space alien damage" then you aren't covered. |
As long as you can afford "ALL RISK" coverage right ? I'm sure it's just a tiny bit more and everyone just forgets to check that box. ![]() |

insurance.......god I wish I had invented that scam. I pay, if something bad happens they pay for it, then raise my rates and yours, and now WE pay. then they get the gov. to require insurance on cars and such, we all pay. Ever see an insurance company lose money, short term yeah, but they will catch it up. what a bunch of pirates
|
| Here's a tip for you guys that don't want to deal with those nasty insurance maggots.... you don't have to buy insurance. Just pay cash for everything you purchase. For your auto, you can satisfy your state's financial responsibility laws by having, oh, about $100K -$250K sitting in your bank account. Problem solved! |
That hasn't helped me with workers comp
|
I've seen several go out of business because they were losing money. |
I don't know about your state, but in most states you don't have to carry WC coverage. A lot of businesses legally "self insure" (ie; set money aside and hope it is enough). If you don't provide WC coverage for your workers however, you may be subjected to lawsuits that you would not otherwise face if you carried WC insurance. |
We offer it all the time - usually an extra 5%-10%. On my policy that meant an extra $36 a year. Oooooooooooooo - I don't think I can afford that!
|
But then they wouldn't be able to bitch and moan like pussy-ass liberals who want someone else to take responsibility for everything. |
I have 250 emplyess |
Guess who will litigate, send apprasisers, make people wait over a year to get back into a home. And nickle and dime everything to death? |
Uhm . . . . who? |
MrClean... If you have 250 employees that you are buying WC for, you should have enough money involved to put together a self-insured plan that is suplemented with medical care. Or, you also might consider self insuring the just small claims, say those below $50K and buying excess coverage for the large claims. You can come out ahead and save some serious money, provided you have the descipline to fund it properly AND your employees have a clue about safe workplace practices. A good independent agent that has access to E&S markets in TN can probably help you with this. Also, you will need to get expert legal help and a good accountant to structure the deal. I am guessing your biz might be janatorial or lawncare. If that is the case, I would think this through very carefully if your workers are doing a lot of manual labor where back injuries can occur. If you self insure, it will take only one to wipe out two or three years savings in your plan. It can work well and pay for itself in a few years if you do it properly, but you are the one accepting the risk if you self insure. |
I looked into that years ago, I didn't want to transfer that much risk. I have sells yearly around 8-10 million. Lawyers, and accountants working for me. I just hate to see that much money going out the door, but it is worth it if something ever does happen. |
I can promise you it isn't the agent that does that. Here is a good idea document everything and I mean everything even your bras and panties. Then you have proof, then a whole claim can be settled in less than 24 hours |
But I have a LOT of bras and panties. That will take a lot of my time doing that |
Well, I actually LIKE our insurance agent and trust her completely. I have NO GRIPE WHATSOEVER about our rate for the two vehicles, a boat and renter's insurance
