In the photos, I don't see anything that provides directional control. The text mentions that there is no swashplate - What gives?

Yep, that's one of Alex's heli's. Not sure which one, but it's one of the Pixel family. Talk about a master craftsman....

Im guessig it is like all the other tiny copters out there no pitch control  you just hover it around or crab it sideways with the tail rotor

I did that back in 1993 or 4 with mixed results. If I had known what I do know about model airplanes it would have turned out much better, but as it was, the model was VERY nose heavy, and prone to breakage because I didn't reinforce the center section of the wing. Radio gear today is about 1/4 the weight of what I used, and you also have the option of using an electric motor-i used a Cox Baby-Bee .049.

Still, it was controllable and flew. Might be a fun project to do again, and you can't beat the price..

Don't forget to seal the foam!

The site mentions a confidentiality agreement on the head design, as he has done commercial design in the past. His Piccolo design was first made by the Ikarus company, and is now being ripped off by just about every injection mold shop in China. Chances are, that if it's fixed pitch with a separate tail rotor motor, it's a copy of the Piccolo.

Based on his postings on RCGroups/Ezone, I would assume that he's using coils and magnets to impart force on the swashplate. that would go very well with the Didel radio gear he is using. It's also a tailor fit for commercial mass production, which is what I think he's going to do with the Chinese on this one-why deal with a reputable German company when he could be making money of the CHICOMs?

What I wanna know, is how he expects that hamster to fly it.

That looks awesome. I want one. I can see myself now sitting on the couch chasing the dogs around the house with it.
