IF we had been able to pursue the enemy into Cambodia (where they were hiding), the war would have been over. The North even admitted that had Nixon allowed them to go farther into Cambodia (when he finally allowed them in there late in the war) that they would have been finished. It was not tech or training, it was politicians. |

Less death to be sure but I suspect just as much maiming given the same timeline.
With the same (or worse now) lack of political will there would not be any difference in the outcome as we refuse to fight wars of conquest with the end view to occupy and fully exploit the territory we won in combat. We seem to fight wars now to just get shed of some political system we disagree with and after "winning" hold the foolish notion that something just as bad or worse won't come along to fill the political vacuum when we leave after installing a weak/corrupt government. Hell we lack the will politically to stem the invasion across our own Southern border.
