Due to today's weapon technology, knowledge, and training, do y'all think if we by any chance went back to war in Vietnam we would have a better chance of keeping the lost of lives down and have overall victory?

Saving more lives, most definitely.

Achieving victory?  Probably not.  We weren't in it to win it, politically or socially. Hearts and minds.

We had a KIA ratio of about 10:1.

IF we had been able to pursue the enemy into Cambodia (where they were hiding), the war would have been over. The North even admitted that had Nixon allowed them to go farther into Cambodia (when he finally allowed them in there late in the war) that they would have been finished.  It was not tech or training, it was politicians.

Yes, bearing in mind it was a political issue that got many killed, not an equipment one.

Overall victory...that was a political failing and had nothing to do with the military.

Advances in body armor, med evacuation, and medical technology would have drastically cut down on our KIA.

Politicians cowering to public perceptions created by a biased left leaning media led to our humiliating pullout of VN.
If we are ever going to win a war again we need to keep the media away IMHO.

Less death to be sure but I suspect just as much maiming given the same timeline.

With the same (or worse now) lack of political will there would not be any difference in the outcome as we refuse to fight wars of conquest with the end view to occupy and fully exploit the territory we won in combat.

We seem to fight wars now to just get shed of some political system we disagree with and after "winning" hold the foolish notion that something just as bad or worse won't come along to fill the political vacuum when we leave after installing a weak/corrupt government.

Hell we lack the will politically to stem the invasion across our own Southern border.
