So sometimes it becomes super hard to flush the toilet and sometimes it gets stuck in the up position casing the valve to remain open and keep flowing water. I took the stupid plastic arm off and there were no cracks and it seemed to move good. I also cleaned the rubber seal thinking maybe its sticking. So the white shaft drain cover thing not moving ok? I just dont know if thats what is making hard to flush? and why its getting stuck up.

| Thats a mansfield toilet. Its getting stuck because the red rubber ring at the bottom of the plunger os getting old and gooey. All you have to do is go buy a new rubber ring and then take the arm loose and unscrew the top of the fill tube where the hose is going down. Pull up the plunger assembly and you will see the red gooey ring. Pull it off and slide the new one on. |

The whole assembly is cheap enough to replace it all. Just go to Lowes, Ace, Home Depot, or whatever hardware store you use and replace it all for about $25.00. This is what I want to do. But every other one I have seen was not this stupid plastic crap. Just a normal chain and over flow tower. This is the only toilet in the house set up like this |

That would explain why its hard to flush but not falling back down. |
| There may be a white foa rubber on the bottom of the thing you unscrewed that may be creased and it is sticking or it could be that when you force the plunger up it comes up and moves to the side a little and it sticks. You can also buy a replacement plunger assembly where all u have to do is when you pull out the old assemply slide a new one on.. u can IM me if u want. |

That's my "go-to" but the flapper won't work on a mansfield like that one. The fill valve will though! |

I replaced the red rubber seal and it seems to be flushing much more easy now. It took a couple of tries turning the water off and on again adjusting the new red seal. It was letting water into the bowl I had to push down on it but it seems to finally seal good. |

It's located in a notch. Schematic for a Mansfield is online. Look it up. Hell, I've fixed this same problem for two men already--flush valve seal is giving and making it hard to push the handle. And before we have any more questions, yes I'm POSITIVE this will fix your problem. |
