She had gotten sick a little under 2 weeks ago. Like a head cold for a few days, then started to recover. Then, she starts coughing a gets a fever. Both increase in severity. We got her on acetaminophen for the fever, and bought a pulse oximeter. A couple of days in, her O2 starts lingering at 90 and dipping below. She was weak and lethargic. So, I took her to the emergency room. Her O2 was 88 when they examined her. Xray and ct showed pneumonia. They swabbed her for covid. The results aren't back yet, but they are pretty sure it is covid. They started her on oxygen, a steroid and antibiotics. I told her I loved her, and they took her up to a room. They said they would work with the infectious disease team on a treatment plan when they got the test results back. I got home and slept for a couple of hours. I guess I needed to vent, as I'm worried and feel pretty helpless. Thanks for listening, |

She said she is very tired, but feels a little bit better. They still have her on O2. She said a doc stopped by and asked if she wanted to talk to some guy from the cdc, And that "more often than not she will have oxygen to come home with"? She hasn't heard anything else about test results or anything. |

She'll be in my prayers OP. If she needs oxygen at home, it might be a good idea to have the doc give the prescription now so that you can have it ready when she's released from the hospital. My insurance company gave me such a hard time I had to get the doc to intervene on my behalf. |

Quoted: Prayers to you guys, OP. What sort of home care did you try prior to going to the hospital? We were taking vitamins pretty regularly beforehand. C,D, multi's, zinc. When she started getting sick, we used OTC cold relief. When the coughing and fever started, it was mucinex and acetaminophen. And a pulse oximeter. Basically followed the recommendations for home care for those not needing hospitalization. When she presented with the low O2, I took her to the emergency room. |

Overwhelming likelihood she'll be fine. I mean hell, you could be killed in a car wreck going to hospital. I'd be more worried a staff infection from the hospital. We're all going to get 'Rona multiple times in our life. Omicron isn't the last, it's just next. It either has your number or not. This will make your wife stronger for the next flavor. Sorry Mike. I had to take my wife to the ER back in March 2020 for something not related to COVID-19. She and I both tested negative for COVID-19, but I wasn't able to see her in person for two days that seemed like forever. IIRC they never did make a definitive diagnosis, they just threw everything but the kitchen sink at her - Antibiotics, anti-viral, anti-fungal, etc. We suspect it may have really been COVID-19 and at least her test was a false negative. May your lady achieve a prompt and full recovery. Hang in there. |

Thanks for the prayers all. I got a call from a nurse at 6 this morning for an update. She said they gave her remdesivir at 3am and showed some improvement. They had her on high flow oxygen and were able to take it down to 3 lpm. They said her blood work looked good, and she was able to sleep. She said a normal course of treatment is 5 doses over 5 days, but some people do well enough with just 2 or 3. I got a bunch of butt dial calls from her this morning, so I had the nurse check on her. They said she had a high fever and the doctor was going to do another ct scan soon. I got to talk to her for a little while. She sounded terrible. That's all I've got for now. Will update when I know more. Thank you for all the prayerrs. Please keep them coming. |

I finally got to talk to a doctor about her. I hadn't gotten a text from her all day yesterday. Doc says she has a blood clot in one of her lungs, so they put her on blood thinners. He said this is most likely what Is causing the bulk of her distress right now. Her fever is under control for the last day without tylenol. They will give her a 3rd dose of remdesivir today. He said yesterday was a rollercoaster ride, but today is better than yesterday. He said they don't expect to have a real handle on her treatment until wednesday. I asked about monoclonal antibodies, he said they couldn't do it. Anyway, they said she is currently as comfortable as she can be and stable. I texted with her briefly this morning before she probably fell asleep again. |
