Probably been watching too much History Channel but what if the Tower of Babel was a space elevator? The description fits, a tower reaching to heaven. Destroyed to prevent humans from climbing to heaven=deny access to space. Fits with the whole ancient alien theories but never heard anything like it.

Totally possible. I mean, the Bronze Age peoples of the Middle East were well known for things like carbon nano-structures, advanced mathematics, low/zero-g engineering, and of course operating in decreasing atmospheres.
I believe. |

Look, the Aliens already have the Pyramids, Stonehenge, the Lost City of Atlantis, and that thing in the mid-Atlantic that looks like the Millennium Falcon. Humanity is smart enough that a people who had to be told to wipe their asses with their left hand only by their God is surely technologically adept at building structures we can't. Give us some credit. |

How about for those that don't believe in the Bible, look at it like an Aesop Tale. The moral of the story, the bigger , badder, or smarter you think you are...there's someone or thing to put you back into your place and show you, you don't know shit. What I find amusing is that so many want to bash someone about a reference to the Bible, yet everyday science proves that the Bible is right about things. Good example it tells about food prep/animals and cleanliness, doctors/chefs still use those basic methods to this day.
Then there's the fact of many here that wish/support kids saying the Pledge of Allegiance in school, yet follow the same asshole argument the Dems. do to people that actually believe in God. I mean seriously if God or the Bible offends you amendment protectors so much, wouldn't you be better off at DU? |

It's a metaphor for the perfect society that progressives keep trying to build. Couple it with Kipling's 'God's of the Copybook Headings' and there's your answer.

The Bronze age peoples, although well advanced technologically, proved tragically susceptible to the Leftist Whore Media Propaganda, in the first historical instance of mass cultural suicide.

Sorry kinda think you may be the kid here, I learned a long time ago say what you mean or keep your mouth shut. So if you're saying it and don't mean it then why say it? I've lost too many friends and family supporting that pledge WORD for WORD. That's why this country is screwed the way it is, just like the feds. choosing which laws they're going to enforce and which to ignore, very Democratic Party of you, though. Guess I'll leave so you can have your safe space, lol. |

People think we are so smart now. I mean, we have iPhones and all. There is evidence that advance civilizations existed. How they fell, anyone's guess.
But, we are extremely arrogant to think that we have figured everything out. |

Nevermind fables or allegories, I figure what happened was some holy man was blathering on about Noah's Ark, priests get privileges, only seven people, obey the priests or suffer, we're all related, give us more tithings, and someone in the crowd said "hey, wait a minute. If all that happened just before my great-grandfather was born, how come that guy across the river talks funny?" So the priest guy says, "ummm, God did it. Yeah, that's the ticket. God. Building, transmitter to God, made different languages and races because he's jealous and you touch yourself at night."

I thought it was a made up story to explain human diversity when supposedly everyone was the incestuous offspring of Noah. Try to make the facts fit the narrative so the sheep won't question authority.
