I've got a kid working part-time for me on the ranch.
I give him a call on his tracfone when I need him to work.
Good kid and broke.

He bought a 90 day card with 60 minutes a few weeks ago. Of course he's burned through all of the minutes.
I told him I would give him some extra work to buy 200 or so minutes.

Looked on the TracFone website and it seems like you have to buy more days of service in order to get minutes. He still has roughly 75 days of service on the phone... just no minutes.

Is there a way to just buy minutes?

Dont think so. Time & mins come together.

You should be able to buy a minute card at any local electronics store or even a cvs, the minutes act much like a cars warranty, it's 90 minute OR a daily period. If you purchase more minutes and activate them on the phone the day length will reset and he will have the minutes.

When you buy minutes it will include about 90 days of service.

Now for him to get a better, when he can save some money, he can get a tracphone that doubles or triples the minutes when he buys a card to add time.

If it were me I'd call the service provider. They seem to have the best answers. GD not so much.

That's what I have in my glovebox. It's on the higher end phones I'm not a talker(burn up time instead of mins) but have one just in case.

He should buy a "double your minutes" card. Whatever minutes you buy afterwards gets doubled. It is a lifetime 50% off coupon.

If you have minutes and buy more then you have more time to spend the minutes. I think it goes out to like 175 days or something.

We bought our son a Trac-phone after he lost his iPhone 4 hand-me-down that was just replaced under warentee Anyway, the phone came with triple minutes for life. So we buy 120 minutes and get 360. He texts everyone so it only take 1/2 minute each text he sends and 1/2 to receive a text.

He must not be very happy with the tracfone.

OP, I have used a Tracfone for years. When he buys a new minutes card, the extra days will add to his account as well. For example, if my phone has 100 minutes and 30 days left, I go buy a 120 minute card with 90 days, my new totals on my phone will be 220 minutes with 120 days of service. I highly recommend buying the double minutes card if using a Tracfone for any length of time. I have been happy with mine, but I do not talk on the phone much.

I was going to buy him the 14 dollar folder one but the wife came home w/ the one that had 3x minutes. He had the iPhone for less than a month along w/ the Otterbox case. the only reason he has a phone now is for our convienience. I told him I hoped he liked it because he wasn't getting anything else unless he paid for it.
