I've got a bushmaster xm-15 flat top, with arms #40 BUIS that im thinking of tradeing for this AK74..Im gonna include 3 30rnd mags.I've had the rifle for 2 years now,and don't ever shoot it,I bet i've not put 100rnds through it,mostly because of the cost of ammo.I have always favored the AK platform over the AR just due to its simplicty and ruggedness.Would I be stupid to trade my AR for this AK? I think you have to be a member of the site to see the picture, which is free BTW..But i'll just include the pic from the ad of the AK..

The AK

If you were only going to have one I would say keep the AR. If you have 1 or 2 more AR's in the stable I would say go for it.

Consider future ammo supplies. There are prob enough 7.62 rifles in this country for domestic production. I doubt there are enough 545 rifles. Just something to think about in case overseas supplies dry up.

Keep the AR. 5.45x39 is going to be expensive as hell if they ban import ammo. .223 will always be around.

For just 1 gun, I would keep the AR. Easier to get ammo for.

Keep the AR and either buy a 22LR conversion or 22LR upper that will solve your ammo cost issues.

As stated if they decide to ban imports on ammo, you are going to be paying top dollar for 5.45.
