I'm filling out the personal history form and there's a question asking about traffic convictions...

In my town, the DA automatically offers a plea down to 'defective headlamp' or 'defective vehicle' if the speeding ticket is not severe.  I have had two of these.  Do these count as "traffic convictions?"

No, they are equipment violations and not criminal offenses.

List them with an explanation. The background investigator already has your driving record. It is better to tell more than to look like you are hiding something.
Don't cut corners or play word games on this application. You don't have to be perfect but you have to be honest.
I'm not implying that you would not be honest just offering some advice. Good luck.

If you plead guilty to GREEN then no, you were legally found guilty of non moving violations.

ETA: I would make a note 'Two non-moving violations'.
