That's a shame. MASH was never as good after he left.
In fact, I used to think of Alan Alda as the ultra lib from that show. In fact, he was far less political and less left wing that Wayne Roger's replacement, Mike Farrell. MASH always had a left tilt, but with the departure of Rogers and the arrival of Farrell there was a huge leftward lurch. RIP Trapper. |

You're thinking of Pernell Roberts, who played an older version of the character in the series Trapper John, M.D.. Quoted:

Didn't he die in 2010? You're thinking of Pernell Roberts, who played an older version of the character in the series Trapper John, M.D.. Yeah, I figured it out when I saw the other thread about Wayne Rogers...
RIP, to both of them. I enjoyed both of their portrayals. |

The actor was surrounded by family when he died Thursday in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia at age 82, his publicist and longtime friend Rona Menashe told The Associated Press. Pneumonia (aka "the old person's friend") has two vaccines available. I'm not one to cover every base (don't do flu shots) but I've taken the first of two vaccines. You must wait one year to take the second, but they won't break the bank. Got mine at Walgreens, didn't require a prescription from my Doc Innabox. |

Best of luck to ya. |

M*A*S*H lost some of its appeal to me when he left. Col. Potter, Klinger, Radar, and Winchester were what kept up my interest in the show.
I liked him on the show, but even more so as a consultant on FBN's "Cashing In". I got the impression he liked the financial world more than acting. |
