Wanting to get some rec's from you guys in regard to treadmills. I know, I know ... I have read most peoples comments that just go outside, but let me finish my rationale.
My wife and I like to workout together and we currently have a "low end" treadmill and a very nice high end elliptical. About 5 years ago I got on a fitness kick and lost 100lbs using a rotating system of 2 days on the elliptical and 2 days on the treadmill. The past year, life happens and we now have a kid and job changes. I have gotten back into my old lazy ways and gained back a bunch of weight. We used to get up early (6am) and rotate machines but with the kiddo this just wasn't possible because the treadmill is just too loud. We bought a jogging stroller and changed our time to the afternoon so we can take the kid out with us, but with the weather changing it just isn't working and I think we need another plan. My question for a recommendation is trying to find something quieter that can replace our current aging treadmill. It is a proform xp 550 that is approx. 10 years old. I've had to replace the motor twice, the deck once and the belt once along with the mother board. It has always been loud, but we are looking for something that we might be able to use that will let the kid sleep while we exercise. My wife has looked at and really wants a Bowflex Treadclimber T10. I am not sold on this thing as I tend to think anything they refuse to sell in a store so you can try it out is a gimmick. I would rather have the treadmill, but honestly I just want something to get us back in the routine and stop my weight gain. Our budget is $2k tops. Of course would prefer something less. Main concern is folding deck and a QUIET exercise. I would run on it about 5 miles a day 2 days a week and wife would walk/jog 3 miles a day 2 days a week. If the treadclimber is our best option so be it, but I would like to hear some real world reviews. I was looking at the Sole F80 as my main contender. Thanks for your input!!! For the TL;DR crowd ... guy wants a quiet treadmill (if there is such an animal) for $2k or less so I can get back in shape and the kid can stay asleep. |

We have had Sole S77 for about 6 years. It runs rather quiet with a low. So far no work has been needed on the machine. Between the wife and I it problem has about 1000 miles on it. We have it placed in our basement on concrete, and it doesn't wake up our toddler. Warranty is great, but so far we have not had to use it. It looks like Sole is having a sale right now on their website with free shipping. We bought ours from Dicks for about 2k.
Our S77 is rather heavy machine, about 400 pounds. It was a pain to get in the house and out of the house when we moved. The control panel does disconnect easily on ours for movement. |
